https://www.cnbc.com/2019/01/23/venezuela-president-maduro-breaks-relations-with-us-gives-american-diplomats-72-hours-to-leave-country.html I had the edit the thread title, due to it’s character limit.
"You dare support my opponent who clearly doesn't deserve the presidency over me? Get out!"
Honestly, if he tries to run, hopefully INTERPOL will snatch him and press charges for the shit he has done.
He will probably run to Russia or Iran then
i can't really criticise breaking relations with a fascist ethnostate tbh
As if this has anything to do with Racial relations and is more of the fact that Maduro is a corrupt as shit dictator.
If he tries to run I hope he trips and lands on a hellfire missile.
your view of reality's bent into some strange shapes
one country shoots protesters and imprisons the opposition and rigs elections the other is a democracy currently run by donald trump
That shoots protesters rioters, imprisons minorities who they aren't confident will vote for them, and rigs elections.
While I generally agree with the point I'd call it a democracy insofar as I would call Fallout 76 a video game.
a poor recent title to the franchise, i agree
CNN reports that the US is treating this order as invalid since they no longer recognise Maduro as the President of Venezuela https://www.cnn.com/americas/live-news/venezuela-protests-2019/h_bcd062fe4d5a7cc00fb259d159d71559
While technically right (fuck Maduro), that seems needlessly risky to me. Like, sure, you can't order us out because you're not the boss anymore, but we're leaving anyways because even odds there'll be a revolution kicking off soon and we don't want to be around for that. Didn't Trump spend a lot of his campaign criticizing Hillary for failing to recognize the danger to American diplomats in a country with a history of public animus against us as it falls into civil war? Just saying, if we're gonna keep the embassy staffed, we ought to be fortifying it as much as we can without making it look like an invasion force.
Operation Just Cause electric boogaloo 2 (I'm aware Just Cause was in a different country)
I'm not wishing for it to happen but fucking oh my god if Trump's incompetent administration caused a Venezuelan Benghazi to happen during a government shutdown that would just... irony and hubris are mere words that cannot express the concepts in play. And oh look, Democrats control the House and could jam investigations down the White House's peehole for the exact same reason Republicans reinvestigated Benghazi repeatedly, and unlike the Russia business there's scads of precedent justifying exactly that so there would be zero room for MAGAtards to cry foul without being obviously hypocritical. Won't stop them but they'll have to explain why it's different now.
Not really the first time this has happened, in 2015 Maduro demanded the US to reduce embassy staff from 200 to 17, they just ignored the demand and nothing happened
Yeah, maybe this isn't the place to post what I did, but acting like the US is some infallible beacon is just wrong.
this looks like the US is installing a leader for resources tbh
Venezuela's own government rejected Maduro. They picked the guy the U.S. has backed, which is why the U.S. is backing him now. Sure the U.S. wants something out of it, same with just about every other country on the planet, but they're hardly backing the wrong horse.
Fun fact: Venezuela kicked the US ambassador in 2010, then never allowed a replacement. That hasn't stopped the US Embassy in Caracas from operating, it's in Valle Arriba and I recall it being almost always packed. It also didn't ever stop the Chavista leadership from getting visas for them and their entire family to go visit Disneyland...until very recently. Maduro has always played a very weak game in terms of international diplomacy so these actions aren't particularly shocking, in fact I'm fairly sure he's done this before.
what resources? venezuela is a net importer of oil lol
