https://www.slashfilm.com/deadpool-3-update/ ... At a promotional event (via Variety), Reynolds explained that he and co-writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick were already working on Deadpool 3 and that they were all “looking to go in a completely different direction” with the new movie. “Often, they reboot or change a character maybe like four movies too late,” he said. ...
PG-13.
"Deadpool 1 and 2 were both massive successes.... but what if we fuck that up?"
Not sure why people would assume it would suck, the other two have been great and that's all we know. I'm not gonna assume anything but the only thing I really could assume is that it would be good
oh nooooo
"Often, they reboot or change a character maybe like four movies too late" I'm holding onto hope that they'll just make him a darker character with less lolrandom quips. A more gritty merc-with-a-mouth feels like a better solution to keep the character fresh than turning it PG-13 like everyone is rightfully fearing. I do wonder how the rerelease of DP2 is effecting the decision making here.
Go full ricklantis mix-up nad just have Deadpool for five minutes at the beginning and the end, let the actual movie be about his sentient thought-bubbles from the comics.
deadpool 2 was a good movie but not a good sequel. going in a different direction might make for a good sequel.
If it's already good, and they've already toyed with a dumbed-down version for a PG-13 rating, and they're now saying "we're going in a completely different direction", odds are it's not going to be the same winning formula that's made DP 1 and 2 such smash hits with the target audience.
I assume it will be doing one of the more grittier comics of deadpool, a lot of people said that dp2 was just more of the first that didn't really add anything new besides more deadpool. Plus Reynolds said that a pg13 version won't work, and that was proven with the Xmas charity run of it.
I'm not really sure what the consensus is, but I preferred the first one by a lot. I just found the first movie funnier. I will say that the joke about DC in DP2 was hilarious though.
Disney going PG13 by force would pretty much be the most retarded thing they could do
I recall the second one also having more serious and sentimental moments and it seemed really jarring going from whacky hi jinks to deadpool sincerely wishing he was dead so maybe they want to go a little more serious with it?
Remember Robocop 3?
Hell, just remember Iron Man 3. Be afraid of the vile mouse, as soon as it smells money and takes more control over the project it won't be long until it says shit like "what if the villain was like Bin Laden, but then he starts making poop jokes"
the fact that everyone is freaking out about this is the reason hollywood doesnt try anything new and focuses on safe boring movies let the movie that basically opened up the R-rating to money again do their thing
Ryan Reynolds is one of those people who can say something like this just to fuck with people.
People are freaking out because Disney has a tendency to fuck everything up if they meddle too much. It's fine if Deadpool 3 does something new so long as Disney isn't the force responsible.
And a huge part of their success was their somewhat counter-expectations style. I don't see how this is necessarily a bad thing, it all depends on execution.
A lot of the complaints I see about Deadpool are the way that the humor is too quirky, cringy. Smartasses are funny, and snark is enjoyable. While it's totally understandable to joke about literally anything when you have the abilities Deadpool has, it makes for a conflicting tone with the premise. Keep the smart-ass mouth he has, keep the sarcastic replies and everything, and in my opinion, you have a formula for a much more interesting film.
https://youtu.be/UkguIRqRt4c "Why PG-13? It's a family movie. Also money. Also Disney."
Yeah, it's been said ad nauseam at this point, but it's going PG-13. I can't for any reason imagine thinking otherwise after investing in a theatrical dry run for PG-13 Deadpool which actually states to the audience's face that they're doing it to prepare for Disney. There's optimistic, and then there's delusional.
Where is everyone getting this? Geninunely curious as I saw no indication it would be pg-13 and the first one did well rated R.
unless that means tying him into MCU and him fucking up thanos shit then I don't want none of it
Guys. Guys. What if it's... Deadpool Kills The Marvel Cinematic Universe?

I'm honestly expecting this to just be a ruse cruise.
Rian Johnson as new director.
I mean, DP2 kind of shows you can do the movie without really compromising just for a rating, there's not a lot they had to do to get that movie a pg13 rating. the MPAA is an absolute joke in respect to their arbitrary limits these days.
