https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/426851-kudlow-federal-workers-impacted-by-shutdown-are-volunteering-in-part President Trump's top economic advisor on Thursday said federal employees were "volunteering" to work amid the partial government shutdown in part because of their "allegiance to President Trump." "They honor us and they do it because of their love for their country and the office of the presidency and presumably their allegiance to President Trump," National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow said while speaking to reporters at the White House briefing room. "They’re doing it. Give them some credit. There are a lot of wonderful people in this country." Talking Points Memo reported that Kudlow made the statement after previously praising federal workers for "working for free" during the shutdown. "They’re volunteering," Kudlow reportedly said. "But they do it because they believe government service is honorable and they believe in Trump and they’re working as hard as ever.” A reporter replied by questioning Kudlow's take on volunteering, saying that it's "not volunteering if you're being forced to work without pay." Kudlow responded by accusing the journalist of trying to play a "semantic game."
What a great way to inspire Federal employees to start demonstrating.

Yeah, being required to show up for work doesn't count as volunteering. Their options are either quit, use up vacation and sick time, or work for free. Because federal employees are legally not allowed to go on strike, an explicit statement that they are not allowed to do so.
1984 just came 35 years too late. This is literally newspeech.
"We were never at war with Eurasia, it was FAKE NEWS"
uuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh no. that would be illegal
I wonder if we'll ever escape this cycle of gaslighting It's so exhausting having to refute constant lie after lie just so that the Americans who aren't paying attention aren't fooled into believing this shit.
"You are required to volunteer."
"Oh you just don't like him because he lies, what politician doesn't lie!?" -Coworker, 2019
Can lying become a sin again please
The motherland compels you to work.
"So what if politician X is dishonest, lies, is corrupt and is probably a criminal - every politician's like that!" -My parents, 2019
lying was never a sin
What a fucking degenerate. Much like Trump himself, really.
So I take it these people were also completely fine with Obama then? Hillary too?
"I don't trust Hillary! She's dishonest, lies, is corrupt and probably a criminal!" - your parents prob'ly.
Literal slavery but alright
Yup, after Trump won, my father was telling me how great it was that he did, because Hillary would've started WW3 otherwise. Why? Because she's a warhawk and she hates Russia and because she had arms dealers and manufacturers paying for her campaign and helping her own crimes, which would mean she'd owe them and have to do everything they told her to do - basically, start a massive war. Obama was also just a corrupt Muslim illuminati dude who wanted to destroy Europe and Russia, at least according to the crazy part of my family. Like seriously, my parents and most relatives are "fine", unless you mention immigration or politics - that's when it all goes to shit. I don't even understand why. My father was born in 1949, he pretty much lived through the whole communist era of my country. He is aware of all the stuff that was going on and many times he even told me about the people who were executed for going against the communist government during the 1950's. Yet he suddenly defends dictators and fairly shitty countries because "America is the true evil. They want to enslave us all and start wars everywhere to generate more money from weapon manufacturing." If you think this is bad, think about how many more people actually feel the same way. Conspiracy theories and propaganda have definitely muddied the waters so much that people don't even care about what's a fact and what is not, just pick a politician that tells you about all the easy solutions to every problem, gives seniors a bit more money and if/when anybody complains about the guy, just answer that he's nothing but a regular politician and crimes and corruption are expected of him but then immediately turn the whataboutism up to 11 and shift the blame onto some other politican and ask the person you're talking with, about why they aren't more concerned about the other guy. Fuck the current political climate. Seriously.
People make this argument for Trump and Bolsonaro on FP.
oh no, obama/hillary are corrupt corporate stools.
