even though some fans believe it strayed from the spirit that made the games work so well.
I'll take 'biblical understatement for 1000, Alex.
Hopefully Netflix gets full control for it and does not let it go the route of the movies. Even if Netflix half-asses it, it won't be the fuckup of Paul Anderson's "I'm fucking Mila Jovovich" abominations.
Hope its based on that Arklay pilot they where shopping atound a few years ago, a detective story set in Racoon City before RE1 about the police investigating the cannibalisti murders in the Arklay Mountains that eventually turned out to be the result of zombies.
Starring Mila Jovovich as literally everyone.
Hey, if the acting's bad for whatever reason then they can just say it's authentic.
That would be so cool. I think an embellished story of the whole first "Umbrella Corp" arc would also work really well as a series.
The lore you see in the files you find is so fucking good. It tells bit by bit how things started out seemingly innocent, and later evolved into flat out people saying "braiiins" or that they got shut inside some place because they were contaminated.
If this isn't a hilari-bad horror romp in the spirit of the original voiceover I'm going to be terribly disappointed

No word yet if Paul W.S. Anderson, the director that was involved with the Evil movies, is being considered.
And if they have any fucking brains at all, they won't even let him look at it.
I really hope it's better than the movies. Got tired of watching that super hero red haired bitch running around.
Please no, the movies were complete garbage. Last thing we need is a series based on the movies.
the title intro to REmake 2 reminded me heavily of a netflix show
the movies were artistic masterpieces not sure what u mean
Resident Evil's story really makes for a great show/movie tbh, and if they're smart about it they don't even need much action/special effects

Here's the pilot I was talking about earlier in the thread btw.
It could be really good if they take inspiration from that "Arklay" pilot, Netflix can make some really great shows when they actually put in the work. But if we're served another slice of fucking Alice pie I'll be incredibly disappointed. Paul didn't even have the decency to choreograph new fights in his movies and just stole them from the games.
Hell, the Revelations games already tried a TV format by going episodic, albeit the main reason was for the first game being a handheld title and the second had the episodes sold separately. Even had the "Next Time on" and "Last Time on" bits.
Even if this is more akin to the first Resident Evil movie, rather than something more faithful, I'd probably be fine with it. I just hope it's absolutely nothing like the fourth movie and onwards. The first three are more than bearable, but those final ones are just atrocious.
That was leagues better than the fuckin movies, shame it got canned.
I don't get why they can't just base it on the games and forget the movies existed. Why that series went on for so long is beyond me.
Chinese movie theater market profits.
