With Trump’s approval, the pact would reopen shuttered government departments for three weeks while leaving the issue of $5.7 billion for the U.S.-Mexico border wall to further talks. Media Bias/Fact Check So in three weeks we will likely be back exactly where we are.
All this BS is paving the way for major changes in how our gov functions, if dems can win the 2020 election, they will most likely get rid of shutdowns altogether.
So on the topic of the border wall, someone on leddit pointed out one of those really interesting groups of coincidence regarding Tinyhands' sudden decision to reject the original bipartisan bill and his course correct to the wall being made of 'steel slats' https://np.reddit.com/r/politics/comments/aj4h3d/mcconnell_blocks_bill_to_reopen_most_of_government/eesmrub/?context=3
Consider the swamp drained.

I predict we're heading for periods of intermittent government shutdowns But yeah it was inevitable once airports were on the verge of shuttering. Airlines couldn't even get paper work processed by the FAA which was grounding airplanes.
So in 3 weeks we'll be back to exactly where we started?
This is the deal that the GOP and Democrats agreed on 35 fucking days ago, too So all those delays and people not getting paid all this time was for Nothing. Thanks to Trump
He says he'll get the wall or he'll declare a national emergency.
Maybe, but I don't think this shutdown is any evidence that we are. Trump gained nothing except worse approvals and higher disapprovals out of this. It didn't play well for him at all.
lmao he blamed obama for his shut downs and straight up said he'll take credit for this one before he did it you can't get more 100% than this, everything negative from this is entirely his fault
“They save good people from attempting a very dangerous journey from other countries - thousands of miles - because they have a glimmer of hope of coming through. With a wall, they don’t have that hope.” He really said this
Dragging someone or something through the mud is done solely to damage their reputation. These MAGA idiots don't understand the concept of cause and effect.
I wonder if today's indictment played a part.
Unless they come to a suitable compromise it could happen again, he needs to have the wall to get reelected or he won't be able to motivate his base to turn out for him. The alternative is that he tries to abuse executive powers to get it, but the prospects of that making it through the courts are slim.
Lets reopen the gov now to distract from Stone getting indicted cause a lot of people really want it and it's all they can focus on. Classic.
His distractions are meaningless. Anyone who's actually important in all this can focus on more than one thing at a time.
True, but it's still just like Trump to try it. In any case, at least people will (hopefully) start getting their paychecks so they can pay their bills and food now.
I suspect this has a lot more to do with the imminent pressure from flight delays than it does the Stone indictment.

I doubt it had anything to do with it. Planes were beginning to be grounded, Not enough ATC staff was causing La Guardia to almost shut down. Remember, ANY OTHER job with a 99.99% success rate is a fantastic job. But if ATC had a 99.99% success rate 50 planes would crash a day
Coulter going full concern troll is unsurprising, but with a man as dumb and easily persuaded as Trump she's fucking dangerous. I wonder if Russia signs her checks, and starting how far back if so. That being said, the thought of Trump letting himself get peer pressured and bullied by a professional rake while projecting his tough-guy image is pretty funny if you ignore what he'll do to innocent people to flex as "proof" he's worthy of the hag's approval.
My days of getting paid to play games at work are coming to an end. Which is a good thing.
Republicans on a discord I'm in aren't too happy with trump 'cucking the wall' "The left got everything they wanted and trump got nothing for the wall" hahahaha
THE ART OF THE DEAL It's like they can't recognize a terrible bad-faith negotiator when they see one.
Gotta keep the planes open for the Superbowl, otherwise then people will really notice
yeah I know it's fucking hilarious I really hope we're entering the phase where republicans start looking for someone to blame, it's gonna be great
Government employees have three weeks to look for a new job.
I'm cheering on something Ann Coulter said. What timeline did I just get into?
A shitton of government jobs have skillsets that can't be transferred to the private sector. They're stuck there
