On Thursday, Tom Enders - who runs Airbus - said his company would have to make "potentially very harmful decisions for the UK" in the event of it leaving the EU with no deal.
And in a video message, he said: “Please don’t listen to the Brexiteers’ madness which asserts that ‘because we have huge plants here we will not move and we will always be here’. They are wrong,”
Appearing on BBC News, Mr Francois - the vice chairman of the European Research Group of Brexiteer Tories - said he would never tell a German MP how to vote in the Bundestag and he wanted Mr Enders to give him the same courtesy.
However, when a BBC correspondent tried to ask a question about next week’s vote on Theresa May's deal, Mr Francois returned to the issue, referring to the “Teutonic arrogance” of the EU and tore up a piece of paper containing Mr Enders' words.
He added: "My father, Reginald Francois, was a D Day veteran. He never submitted to bullying by any German and neither will his son".
This shit's getting pretty amazing, all sorts of businesses are telling us "yo if you leave the EU, especially with no deal, we're pulling out and moving all our shit elsewhere" and Brexiters like this guy have no response other than personal attacks/racism/"you're a liberal elitist lmao"
How to win an argument: bring up a completely unrelated factoid and use it to stir emotions rather than actually combat the subject in any meaningful way.
Your father would also have taken a paddle to you for going oorah like an idiot, unless this is a case of like father like son.
what fucking planet are these people living on
Yeah this did not go down particularly well in social media reactions. Most of Britain is sick to the back teeth of every single fucking family's veterans, heroes and war victims' experiences being co-opted in some sort of self-righteous statement about Brexit being this generation's war. The truth is that the people who went to war between 1938 and 1945 were from every background, left, right, poor and rich and all would have held their own opposing views on what to do today. As politics always goes. Applying World War II logic 'Germans bad, Europe weak, British Empire strong' which wasn't even true at the time, to a shot in the foot political movement - orchestrated in no small part by the national adversary we've held non-stop since the war ended, the Soviets/Russia - is simply disrespectful. Speaking for your dead ancestors is nothing but stepping all over the dignity they had to be able to hold their own opinions. I have no doubt half of these politicians' parents held views that opposed their own, and somewhere deep down it does hurt them to make the scummy move to ignore that fact.
You don't see me turning around and arguing in my Great Grandmother's memory that because half of her classmates from Barry Docks never came back to school after a night in the Blitz, she would want to see Europe peaceful under the EU, because I don't know. We never spoke about the trauma that was her war. This is true of almost everyone who's doing this shit.
Aerospace production lines do not fuck around if there is no deal brexit airbus could see its entire production line grind to a halt as its suppliers are all fucked up by not just the new confusion at the borders but confusion over regulatory bodies and standards.
To put it into context, where I work we're just changing our business's legal name and we're preparing for a massive disruption in our own shipping because everything regarding shipping on back to the prints and contracts has to reflect the new name.
haha dumb brexiter, first we steal your airbus plants, next we steal whole london and there's nothing you can do to stop german bullying
Just take Czechoslovakia and leave us alone!
I think that every single day, there's something seriously wrong with society as a whole but I cannot pinpoint it.
I can only hope that Brexit fails hard and never gets the chance to emerge again.
