Why did they make him look like a rockstar in this movie
This trailer is fucking absurd
America needs to stop with the hero worship of killers
What the fuck is with the name of that movie? I thought it was a joke
For a moment I thought this was some rust kiddie shilling a youtube thing
Then I click it and its a ted bundy movie.
Huh.
I watched the My Friend Dahmer trailer again after watching this one for the first time, as something bugged me with the tone here.

The tone for this Bundy movie paints him as some rockstar that I'm not sure I like.
the name of this movie is appallingly bad, so bad i thought it would be a comedy
I bet at the eat of the movie he's gonna be getting the chair and it's going to zoom into his face and he's going to have a wink and smile ;)
Part of the scary thing about Bundy was that he was actually pretty normal-seeming charming even, but having just watched the Netflix documentary that came out about him, this trailer still feels super schlocky and it definitely seems like it's glorifying him.
Quote from the judge when he was given the death sentence.
It being a quote makes it a lot better I suppose, but it's still a real mouthful for a title in my opinion.
It's like Hollywood literally doesn't know how to cut anything but a cooker cutter trailer nowadays. Literally smack the happy, bubbly font on there and a speaker introducing the thing with THIS SUMMER... and it's a Kevin James movie.
serial killers are boring
I'm pretty sure they treat him like a rockstar because that was how he acted and was received (by some)
God, the soundtrack for this trailer feels like it is trivialising atrocity - it's so ill-fitting...
Imagine lionizing a real sadistic rapist who tortured, raped and killed over 30 women. This just rubs me the wrong way completely.
Hey now, what's the worst that could happen? That another unstable psycho decides to go on a murder spree? That's great for the ratings!
This is like one of those joke videos that try to completely change the tone of a movie by simple editing and music tricks.
Kevin James as John Wayne Gacy
Watch the actual netflix documentary to really get a feel for who Ted was and a really informative 4 hours. This trailer and movie looks like bullshit.
I definitely thought this was going to be a thread about the netflix documentary, but with a classic facepunch meme-ified title. Nope, it's actually a thing.
They did the same thing with one of the trailers for Nightcrawler which made it look like an idiotic dark comedy so it doesn't necessarily mean the movie itself will have the same tone
Pretty tasteless they'd do this about a real story though, especially one as terrible as this one
The director's first feature film since Blair Witch 2.... Then again this is also the same director who did the Netflix Ted Bundy documentary (Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes
), Paradise Lost and Brother's Keeper and other crime documentaries, so we'll see.
So now that you point it out, I'm pretty sure that's what happened. I didn't realize until I just looked it up that this is directed by the same guy who did the Netflix documentary.
I kinda feel like the people who think this is glorifying or celebrating the life of a serial killer are entirely missing the point. It's all about establishing contrast; they don't even really show him killing anyone until the very end of the trailer, it's meant to make you go "huh Zack Efron seems like a really charismatic protagonist" so that it's all the more disquieting when you see him butchering innocent people like a maniac.
Like, that was Ted Bundy's whole thing; he was super charismatic and handsome and charming and that's why no one suspected him. He seduced young women with his magnetic personality, then he killed them, like a gender-swapped black widow. That's what makes the story so horrible and fascinating, because you expect a serial killer to be some hulking mute like Leatherface or Michael Meyers when they could really just be that chill but secretive dude who lives a few doors down. It's not celebrating him or endorsing the things he did, it's being historically accurate.
Historically "accurate" with some extra dramatization and gloss-over on the side.
Also we don't even know the script or do we? I'd be surprised if the movie's ends with the murder of a 12 year-old.
I don't think it comes across as you say at all, and I feel like that's mostly because there's no switch in tone when he starts murdering people. Still fast rock, winking in the camera, quick cuts of Bundy jumping out a window. You'd think it's an action movie. This is a travesty of a trailer.
And probably a travesty of real sociopath behavior and social interaction, with women audiences as the primary cash grab.
Something tells me it isn't going to be historically accurate at all, but merely inspired by the real events, with certain victims left out of the story.
Ehhh, it's by the guy who did the Netflix documentary, which seemed pretty good. I'm thinking it's the fault of the editors of the trailer, and I'll withhold judgement on the actual movie until reviews are out or I've seen it.
I thought "Golf With Your Friends" was the worst title for something but sweet fucking christ. Also this seems like it's gonna be a really boring yet try-hardy movie.
He escaped capture by literally jumping out of a court room window, seems fitting to me? Even when he was in court defending himself he was winking and cracking jokes with the judge
Is this Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close 2?
This sounds like the title to a leafy video
