God, the way certain segments of the far left are reacting to Maduro's deposition is embarrassing. Dude is an authoritarian shitbag. It doesn't fucking matter what his political ideology is - people are starving to death because of him. One way or another, he has to go.
I don't understand how Israel has anything to do with the situation?
The cartoon could equally be suggesting that they're simply extremely passionate decorators who are just a little bit clumsy. I don't really know enough about the darker recesses of internet anti-Semitism to evaluate this properly, but is this just another example of people suggesting that criticising Israel is automatically anti-Semitic?
If you look close at the scythe, it's the flag of Israel, not hard to miss, I know.

I'm a bit confused there too.
Oh I saw the flag. I'm just confused as to why they brought Israel into the matter. Unless Israel has been very vocal about ousting Maduro and I haven't heard it all this time?
It's not really anti-semitic, it's a bad edit. I've seen this picture edited and used by all sorts of critics of 'imperialism' for a while now. It's an old image where originally all the names were of Arab states, here's the original

I'm pretty sure I remember seeing that it's originally from an Arab newspaper
I don't understand how acknowledging the fact that Israel and the US involve themselves in bloody conflicts across the middle east is anti-semitic.
In fact, it's fucking offensive to me that criticism of Israel a a country equates to criticism of Judaism. Israel is an apartheid shithole run by a criminal - I can say that without there being any undertone of bigotry against the Jews themselves, can't I?
Granted, that's a fair point. Israel didn't have anything to do with Libya, to my knowledge.
2019 and people still missing on editing out the israel part. I have seen it in so many memes about almost any topic ( with the doors and the usa flag replaced by other stuff ) and the sight of the flag still being there is painful to watch.
"We didn't notice the Star of David," the group said.
This wasn't a 5 min job to do a meme, you were supposed to look carefully what you post?
Jesus, why the community managers from the left worldwide suck so much at their job? I even could do a better job.
And then is the issue that many are jumping into the sharks: the USA ( and many others ) only expressed support to the opposition after their Congress recognized as a such, not decided to intervene militarily.
Is just like the Stalinists being the minority but being so lousy that everybody thinks is the default.
Haha yeah. Back when I studied at university there would occasionally be seedy-looking blokes handing out newspapers associated with / published by the Socialist Alliance and Socialist Alternative groups (actual socialist groups, not the brand of “socialism” advocated by Bernie Sanders and others). “Anti-imperialism” was a strong theme with them, and that included being apologists for Putin and Maduro.
"We had intended to criticize the roll of the United States in the undemocratic coup currently being instigated by the right-wing opposition in Venezuela." Israel, it added, "had nothing to do with the coup."
Yes, how dare we recognize Venezuela's only legitimate (though temporary) president as per Venezuela's Constitution, and the closest thing to a democraticly elected president they have right now vise backing a crook who almost single handedly destroyed the country and created one of the worst humanitarian crises in South American history.
Shame on us.
I wonder what those same people think about the fact that Putin might be involved in every single populist far-right uprising in the world over the last few years.
Russia is also even more of a capitalist wasteland hellhole than the US and Putin has zero interest in changing that, so that makes the support for him very bizarre too
it seems like weirdo radicals support Russia because it was communist at one point...????
The timing is kinda shit. I'm all for disavowing Maduro but for the US to arbitrarily decide who is now the legitimate leader of any country without any due process is a dangerous precedent. I'll stop short of calling it a coup for sure though, this is just the US speaking out of its ass and it's crystal clear whom of Maduro and his opponent is making a disproportionate use of force.
US diplomacy is usually all ulterior motives when it comes to south America.
The far-left will ignore many things if it fits in with their ideology of destroying business.
Evil Jewish New World Order bankers or something. It's a concept that's pretty popular in far-left circles and has been for a long time. It's had quite a resurgence in the last decade or two because of the Israel/Palestine thing probably because various far left groups like to gain their diversity peen by including Muslims who really hate Israel.
Die Linke was formed from the remains of the Socialist Unity Party (SED) which ruled East Germany, so taking the line of the Kremlin seems to be force of habit.
