How would the turtles even manage to survive in that river long enough to make an impact if it is that polluted
This is either going to end with more dead turtle shells than a mario kart race or an awful lot of people losing their toes.
You may be right, but remember that some animals are surprisingly resilient to toxins.
I was afraid the title was going to say Flesh Eating Bacteria.
how about stop using the river as a designated dumping river
You only hear about the high profile "oh god we fucked up immensely these toads are eating everything" cases of biological control, but with proper research and careful planning, introducing species into an area is an ecologically sound way to deal with invasive or harmful species. This situation is of course really weird, but we shouldn't write off biocontrol more broadly.

Long as dipshits like him are making the decisions nothing will change.

Pretty sure we shouldn't be giving animals a taste for human flesh. Might turn out kinda bad.
Better watch out, before you know it they'll gang up with some rat and raising hell around the city.... on second thought, do it.
Yeah because you know, it gets passed on telepathically to other Animals.
*eats human flesh*
"Oh hey, this tastes pretty good!
*telepathically communicates to his friend across the country*
"Yo you should start eating people instead of plants and animals, they taste good."
News article comes out warning people of Animals bum rushing people to eat them, people are baffled as to why they've suddenly decided to do this.
