• Possible implementation with Autolooter from roadmap combinated with Electricity

So I've seen there's a planned implementation of such a thing like Autolooter in the roadmap, which should gather loot from dead bodies or the floor. Which made me think of possible use of this, to make both online and offline raids harder, if the base owner invests time and resources into setting it. I thought of a system, where you could lay pipes around your base, similiar to wires at the moment. If there would be at least 2 chests connected with a series of pipes through the base, then if 1 chest would be destroyed, 2/3 of the loot inside would be transfered through the pipe, to the chest connected to the other end of it. This would implement a new interesting mechanic, when raiders wouldn't be able to hit just 1 loot room, but would allow base builders to split the loot just in case of raid detected (via the new upcoming HBHF sensor) There could be also an item, which would suck in items laying nearby on the ground, and send it somewhere through the pipes Pipes could include a single system of branching and direction of item flow control (direction switches, filters, etc.) Let me know what you think about this idea. Would it be too much? Would it be a good addition to raid balancing? Also if you like this idea, and have an idea of any additions this system could use, please share with us.
As interesting as the idea of loot moving from one room to another is, I think a pipe system may be too much... though to be honest I'm not sure how else it could reasonably be done. But I'm pretty sure pipe laying, while a nice system, just moves the scale too far on the time investment front. If a level of sci-fi is acceptable, I think a simpler solution may be a sort of "tesla turret" which can be configured to target dead bodies and to teleport their inventory to designated chests. This way, the autolooter system is integrated into electricity without the need of a new system, and can be easier for facepunch to code into the game
I am simply 100% against this auto loot thingy. It's too weird and honestly doesn't fit Rust's aesthetic. All in all, it would feel like playing Tekkit all over again in Minecraft x'D
I see points in both of your arguments. I agree that something like robot autoloote would seem more useful. Or being able to tame a wolf and train it to recover certain loot and move it somewhere, if not killed, wouldn't seem as a bad idea s well
I have no idea how facepunch could implement a autolooter system but if they do then they would be able to fit it in with rust somehow
