It ABSOLUTELY does. It's the largest free trade zone on the planet, combined the EU has the biggest GDP in the world, France has nuclear warheads and the EU's hardpower is slowly but steadily improving.
Meanwhile the US is fighting terrorism by supporting KSA
They don't have enough boats, unfortunately.
The EU is extremely powerful on defense, but, ignoring nuclear capabilities, essentially toothless offensively.
