USA and censorship, they allow violence but if there's skimpy clothing involved, the people with sticks up their asses kick up a fuss.
Oh and that's skimpy clothing on females, men can be topless and nobody cares.
Gotta protect those kids, not from schoolshooters mind you, but from nude skin.
Haven't you heard? Naked man-pecs aren't sexualization, they're a male power fantasy! Yep, those shirtless scenes of Captain America, Thor, etc in the Marvel movies were absolutely for the sweaty male nerds and not at all for any of the women in the theaters, nope.
Game violence/sexualisation is such a stupid subject and I think the MK11 reveal event really showed it. You had women at the event cosplaying as the male characters and showing more skin/cleavage than the girls in MKX, and in MK11 are now getting their faces ripped off clean and being thrown into helicopter blades.
Wasn't there a show that had some people's skin flayed, but they had to censor their butts by having blood pouring over the cracks?
censorship and free expression is an entire discussion in and of itself that's honestly worth talking about...
...but, i feel like this needs to be brought back every time it's specifically Mark Kern that's talking about horny things being censored or whatever
not sure he's the best speaker on the subject
No it doesn't need to be brought up, it sounds fucking stupid.
It's weird that it's almost the opposite in Asian markets, y'all can have oppai lolis in bikinis, but violence? No way, check out the Japanese version of RE2 remake it's so tame in terms of gore.
I'm still mad about the fact that a brand new AAA game costs 77 euro on the Turkish PS Store.
So by "former Blizzard employee" they mean Mark Kern tweets.
Yea it's an important and valid conversation to have, but "Former Blizzard Employee" here means nothing and isn't news worthy, thousands and thousands of people are "former big studios employees". Write articles about it when it's someone who isn't blacklisted from almost the entire industry for being a massive shithead and who's obviously gonna sensationalize the shit of it because it fits his narrative.
It doesn't make his opinion about a real current problem less relevant. Even if you consider that his opinion is irrelevant, the Sony censorship is something very relevant news to both developers and customers.
