https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-01-27/u-s-treasury-lifts-sanctions-on-three-deripaska-companies The U.S. Treasury Department on Sunday lifted sanctions on three firms tied to Russian tycoon Oleg Deripaska, including United Co. Rusal, a move that will provide relief to the global aluminum market. Deripaska, an ally of Russian leader Vladimir Putin, will remain under U.S. sanctions, and his property will remain blocked. But the Treasury Department is removing restrictions on Rusal, EN+ Group Plc and EuroSibEnergo JSC.- Deripaska’s agreement with Treasury, negotiated over eight months, includes cutting his direct and indirect share ownership below 50 percent in each company, overhauling the boards of En+ and Rusal, and “committing to full transparency with Treasury by undertaking extensive, ongoing auditing, certification, and reporting requirements,” the department said in December when announcing its plans to remove the sanctions.
Trade restrictions lifted: Russian companies with the typical density of oligarch connections Aluminium and steel tariffs not lifted: Canada Mexico EU Japan Everywhere else Canada and Mexico's tariffs were applied as pressure to try and force us to sign Trump's don't-call-it-NAFTA. Our leaders all signed the agreement (though the text materially changed after the public signing ceremony, slanting further 'wins' to the US including totally hollowing out one of the significant concessions Canada extracted from the US while loopholing around a NAFTA regulatory giveaway Canada had clawed back to better protect our dairy industry) last year, but nothing has been done to untie the hostages. Definitely the priorities I expect out of the vindictive orange asshole.

At this point U.S. state policy is indistinguishable from Russian foreign policy. Trump and his administration are turning the US into a vassal state and it's happening in plain view right in front of us.
The only thing stopping civil war is the promise of elections.

lol that sounds very foreboding but isn't that kind of like saying, "the only thing stopping me from going hungry is this entire rotisserie chicken I'm about to eat" that's kind of how democracy works
Yeah I'm saying we have one chance to get rid of the new red menace peacefully in 2020, but if he somehow ends up winning it could get ugly.
Who exactly is killing who in this civil war? Where are the borders? I've never bought the civil war thing, dude. It's too Tom Clancy. Americans don't strike me as the type, anyway.
The neo-Nazis, neo-Confederates, and the worst of Trump's base versus the world. Full war isn't too likely, rather small scale insurgencies. The income inequality and blatant corruption and law flouting in the United States has gotten so fucking bad people will be getting desperate if people don't get help soon. Which is why Democrats taking the House was such a big accomplishment.

Russia is America's enemy. We are not buddies, and the fact that Trump and his goons are working with them makes them America's enemy. Fucking traitors.
hey now the GOP had every chance to block these sanction, there wasn't enough spines in the senate to stand up against Trump though.
