As of Monday afternoon, 35 cases of measles, which was eradicated in 1963 after introduction of a vaccine, had been confirmed in Clark County, with 25 of those being in children under the age of 10, according to Clark County Public Health. Thirty-one of those cases were in people that were not immunized, while the other four have yet to be verified. Parents may choose not to vaccinate their children for several reasons, including the belief that vaccines can cause autism, which was disproved by a 2013 CDC study. Washington is one of 18 states that allows parents to opt out of vaccines for non-religious reasons. Gov. Jay Inslee declared a state of emergency Friday amid a growing number of measles cases, almost all of which were based in Clark County. He called the outbreak an “extreme p ublic-health risk that may quickly spread to other counties” in his proclamation.
Fucking do it, ahhhh. Who cares if anti-vaxx morons kick up a fuss?
Let this pass lol, this antivaxx rubbish has gone on for long enough and it needs to be severed root and branch.
Wakefield has cost us so much. Banning exemptions gets a big tick from me.
As long as they have exceptions for people who cannot take the vaccinations due to real health risks, go for it
The ONLY reason a child shouldn't receive a vaccination, is if it would cause an allergic reaction or is otherwise detrimental for the child due to grounded medical reasons. All other reasons are Big Whoop hot-air nonsense garbage arguments that should be wiped from legislation immediately.
The only valid reason not to get a measles shot is because there is a tangible risk of life-threatening medical complications from said shot. I don't care what the other reason is, it can be shoved back up the arse from whence it was pulled.
In the OP As measles cases continue to rise in Washington, state lawmakers have proposed legislation that would ban exemptions for the disease’s vaccine on a philosophical or personal basis. So I'm pretty happy with this ban, I was concerned when I first saw the headline, but looks like they're leaving medical exception (as they should, some people do in fact get allergic reactions to vaccinations – making herd immunity even more important).
