It is disturbing how inflexible Japanese society is. It is actually part of the reason why I want to work in the games industry, because it is rather flexible in comparison to other industries. However, I see news like this every now and then, and now I genuinely wonder, is Japan alone in this? It always seems like it is reported on as if Japan is the only country where this happens.
not at all. the whole idea of hikikomori stems from depression and social anxiety. some of the interviews in the video are classic examples of severe depression.
