I don’t blame them. I saw my grandmother fade away from dementia and it’s not easy for anyone.
The problem is that even if you set up a document containing your wishes it won't be enacted because you can't give consent. So even if you write down "euthanise me the moment I stop reconising my wife" they won't do it even if you stopped responding or knowing who she was over a month ago.
After working in a nursing for over a year and seeing what it does to people I'd rather die than ever suffer of any kind of dementia.
