https://youtu.be/1ebhepOmWws Before that zing comment with 200 agrees gets posted,I know that this is almost an hour long and I know that the title is a bit clickbaitey at first but this is seriously an interesting video.
"What if there really is a parallel between Call of Duty and virginity?" I can't tell if this guys trying to have some kind of weird giggle or if he's serious.
I'm only 9 minutes in and this video is such a whirlwind.
Is this video one of those challenges where you have to see how long you can bear to listen to this dude? I only made it 47 seconds.
He's got some good points but man it's difficult to watch, the way he's structured himself is so Avant Garde.
I urge any of you reading this thread right now watch this masterpiece.
He makes some good points. Thanks to my parents' divorce and them not giving a shit about me in the process I grew up using video games as means to escape my fatass friendless reality. It all changed now, all, except my discipline. I may have a good entry level IT job, I may have rented a small apartment, I may have lost weight and got more fit, I may have gotten a girlfriend but I still can't stop wasting my free time playing shit instead of making sure I move upwards on the career ladder. It's like there's a block in my mind that just says "real world is dog eat dog, you need constant effort, forget it all for today and go escape in some fantasy world" that I VERY rarely can get past.

Honestly, this is just tangential bullshit stretching to be meaningful in any way. Quick TLDR he's talking about the very real issue of millennials not growing up in the same way as previous generations, and is attributing this to participation trophy culture and Call of Duty instant gratification. There's truth behind this but he stretches it way too far by telling us how he learned life lessons through Runescape? But the points don't really come across as sincere since he openly says how he didn't feel remorse when stealing from a friend who trusted him in real life, but felt gut-wrenching guilt when doing so from a Runescape friend. You're giving him a lot more credit than he deserves. This isn't a "masterpiece", it's just a long form of the facebook boomer memes of "you want a kiss on that booboo, snowflake?" or whining about the whole "Aw, you were the last winner" thing. He's expanding issues in the US educational system to what is a global issue. I can say with confidence that when I was in school (roughly same age as this guy) I had plenty of time to talk to people, go to clubs, learn about new things, run around nature discovering shit with a few close friends. I can say with confidence that a huge portion of my own friends and coworkers (same age) did so as well. And yet we're all still experiencing the same "quarter-life crisis" as it's called. It's not just something to do with education or child rearing, thought that is a factor.
I know, the video lies within the gray area between a serious rant and a joke. as you describe, it has the stupid fb boomer shit in it, which has some nuggets of truth, but generalizes younger people far too much. I don't think I said his thoughts applied globally, neither did he IIRC. I assume he's making a big elaborately running joke. I don't believe everything he says tbh. And when I say it's a masterpiece, I exaggerate. I don't actually think the video is good. Like I said before, it's loosely structured, and the runescape bit, while containing entertaining stories, had gone on far too long. But I gave it a pass personally because I found that part entertaining enough to be worth my time.
wow video game essays have really started to get more desperate huh
