Let people have their fun. For many Stephen Hillenburg was an inspiration. This is more than just a joke, it's a celebration for a man who impacted many young lives.
It's not even a meme you edgelord, SpongeBob was literally an inspiration for several generations, it's a tribute to Stephen hillenburg more than anything.

Considering the hype directly generated by the Superbowl, having it all be a giant cocktease would cause actual riots at this point. It's going to play or the stadium will burn down faster than Bikini Bottom did.
I have three images in my mind:
An extremely well-made and faithful adaptation of the band geeks performance is done as an introduction.
A few short voice lines by squidward are played introducing the show.
There is going to be a performance before the halftime show by a bunch of different cartoon/fictional characters and squidward is only one of them (like the cartoon all-stars drug psa but with the superbowl.)
I'm guessing 2 is the most likely, but either way it'll probably be somewhat more interesting than other years.
I'll just be happy if they play Sweet Victory during the halftime show
