Cain, 73, was in the White House on Wednesday, according to people familiar with the matter. Two seats on the Fed board are vacant, but nominating Cain raises the prospect of a Senate confirmation hearing focused on the sexual harassment and infidelity accusations that ended his presidential campaign. Cain was also under consideration for other unspecified senior government posts, they said. The president’s top economic adviser, Larry Kudlow, said last week that the White House wants Fed governors “who understand that you can have strong economic growth without higher inflation.” Cain had a long corporate career and is also familiar with the Federal Reserve system. From 1992 to 1996, he served as a director of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, as well as deputy chairman and then chairman. He advocated for the U.S. to return to the gold standard during his presidential campaign and as recently as December 2017 defended higher interest rates, a position that contrasts with Trump’s repeated criticisms of the Fed last year.

Why wouldn't you consider him? He is America
Cain was basically Trump 0.5 so it kind of makes sense.
Makes sense, Trump's so racist the normal one token black Republican isn't enough, so he needs two.
hey wanna know what will cause massive inflation? returning to the gold standard!
I hope Carson's okay, we haven't heard anything of him in a good long while now.
Oh, the Simcity Tax Man! I remember him! He was irrelevant before the election was even over. https://www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/2011/10/14/herman-cains-9-9-9-plan-straight-out-of-simcity/#989edb73b73f
just embezzling money on furniture and stuff
Ben Carson strikes me as exactly the kind of guy who would embezzle federal funds just to buy a spice rack from Home Depot
The US in gold storage has $10,355,179,085.80 in reserve between Fort Knox, West Point, and Denver as of August 2018. The current net worth of the US is roughly $269,000,000,000,000. Oof.
if they agree to give up large piles of their wealth we can get back onto that mystical gold (or silver) standard.
