CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A bill in the West Virginia Senate has been introduced to provide exemptions from mandatory immunizations for medical, religious and personal objections.
Introduced in the Senate on last week, the bill was referenced to the Health and Human Resources Committee. Senators Mark Maynard, R-Wayne, is the lead sponsor of the bill, Senate
Bill 454, while Rollan Roberts, R-Raleigh, Dave Sypolt, R-Preston, and Sue Cline, R-Wyoming, are also sponsors.
The chairman of the Health and Human Resources Committee, Senator Mike Maroney, is a physician. He is chairman of radiology at Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Glen Dale and
Wetzel County Hospital. Senate committee chairs have significant latitude in determining what bills thecommittees will actually take up.
Currently, immunization is required in West Virginia for a child entering any public school or state-regulated child care center against chickenpox, hepatitis-b, measles, meningitis,
mumps, diphtheria, polio, rubella, tetanus, and whooping cough.
“With religious and conscientious concerns, not only with the increase of autism that is thought to be linked to vaccination but the fact that embryos that are derived from abortions
that are used in these vaccinations, should be enough reasons for parents to exempt their child,” Maynard said.
And I bet there's nothing in this bill regarding responsibility when someone who can't vaccinate dies because someone didn't. I'm sure it'll just be part of God's plan.
If this passes then I'm staying the hell away from West Virginia.
Can't wait to see the inevitable measles outbreak in Virginia.
If you choose not to be vaccinated then you forfeit your right to participate in society.
There is so many people who are immunocompromised and the whole reason vaccines work is because of herd immunity. I'm all for sending all anti-vaxxers to some island and keep them away from the rest of society, they are a genuine danger.
What a fucking surprise, all republicans.
" the bill adds that any parent or legal guardian can exempt their child to immunization requirements because of religious beliefs or a conscientious/personal objection to the immunization of the child."
Fuck yourselves, how about you legalize polygamy then too to fucking fit religious marriage.
"Almost heaven", close enough for those kids
At best antivaxxers tend to rely on really biased interpretations of actual evidence. As an example from my antivaxxer mother: Yesterday I overheard her trying to convince my stepdad that we don't need vitamin D. Her reasoning? We absorb vitamin D through the skin from sunlight. Darker skin makes it more difficult to absorb vitamin D. Ergo we obviously don't need vitamin D. Of course this completely ignores any reason that humans develop darker skin as well as the fact it's not unusual for darker skinned individuals to need vitamin D supplements in northern climates. But that doesn't reinforce her view so it gets disregarded.
Wow, they've used the SAME two samples of fetal tissue since the 60's for the vaccines mentioned, they've just kept replicating them for the last 50 years! That's incredible.
"Hey, people are getting diseases that were thought long gone again"
"I KNOW LETS MAKE IT WORSE"
Fuck Anti-Vaxers, at this fucking point I would be for this shitpost from them

science hasn't failed us, we've failed science.
Science is too pure for humans
sometimes the vulcans were right after all, just sometimes. Every other time they were wrong, but the devotion to logic and science was sometimes right.
