Very slick looking, but i really want to spite them for removing the game from Steam. I don't want to install another platform.
You know the worst part?
Pirates won't have to contend with the Epic launcher.
Best part is Epic Store has no default DRM, so that means Devs have to implement their own.
You mean the best part, right?
With all the controversy im expecting this so be one of the fastest cracks.
Is it just me or is anyone else sick of seeing that same fucking stock X shaped muzzle flash effect everywhere?
I mean it's not even that hard to whip up photoshop and draw some convincing looking muzzle flashes.
Imagine making an expensive CGI trailer and using muzzleflashes meant for amateur film makers.
Also this was one of the fucking games I was most excited for, but Deep Silver/Koch Media had to go cock up the release.
Hell I bought the Redux versions of both games just to support the development of Metro Exoddus before its announcement.
But publishing and other big business typically being run by high-functioning sociopaths thought that the upfront payment and 8% more of a revenue split was a good idea because perhaps in their mind PC gamers are gullible children that lap up any anti-consumer shit thrown their way.
And now the realistic fear is that the business smart morons look at the loss in sales and ignore any personal responsibiliy and think that PC isn't worth porting for, instead of the obviously shit idea of trying to introduce bought exclusivity on the platform with the most open market and most consumer rights- & tech-savvy clientele.
I would be surprised if it isn't.
I'm surprised more people didn't just preorder it on Steam as they announced they will be making it Epic store exclusive. Wont have to deal with the Epic store and have the added benefits like cloud saves.Hopefully the game sales horribly on the Epic store and it still ends up having more sales on steam due to early preorders. Maybe it will make publishers think twice about doing these type of scummy deals.
I have a feeling Epic paid them a good sum of money to be on their platform. Seems like the smart thing to do if they want their platform to be taken seriously by big developers.
They removed it from the store before the announcement- I checked hours after the announcement was made and it was already off steam.
No they didn't. They announced that they were removing it from steam and left it up for a day. Steam themselves put a message on the game's page essentially blasting the publisher for pulling the game after advertising it on steam and allowing pre-orders for months.
It was Deep Silver/Koch Media, not 4A who made this deal. 4A are getting fucked over from this, they'll see none of the money Epic paid for exclusivity and it if fails the consequences will all fall on them.
They should have just spend the money on making the store better than steam, rather then trying to screw over the consumer. If they want people to use it, make the store better. Their not giving a good reason to use their launcher outside of playing Fortnite and using UE4. Its an unsecured piece of junk thats missing 90% of steams features. Why would I want to start accumulating a library on a platform I get an email every few months about my account being stolen.
I feel like the complaining that it's epic store exclusive is a bit silly, though I agree that how it went down is incredibly stupid. The real crime here is using DRM that has been proven to be both ineffective and a piece of shit. That will be what ultimately hurts it the most in the long run, I just don't understand the business logic here... is the publisher really that disconnected from reality?
That guy is a dick but that's not reason enough for the entire company to collapse. Especially when other signs point to 4A not even knowing it was happening until it was announced.
Oh man, this game looks great, I can't wait to buy it in February 2020!
I know what you mean but bad in the sense that people who purchase it legally will have an inferior product.
Yeah, someone brought up being sick of the muzzle flash being stock, but I barely notice it compared to that damn scream. It's so jarring.
The Wilhelm Scream is actually a very, very long running joke among media creators. There were a couple of directors (Spielberg was one) who make sure to use it in every film they make.
So yes, they are doing it for fun and they do know it distracts some people.
Same, I don't preorder and I don't support TenCent Games Store™
