He was speaking after talks with Irish premier Leo Varadkar in Brussels. He said the EU would "insist" on the Irish backstop in any UK withdrawal deal to preserve peace. But he and Mr Varadkar were preparing for the "possible fiasco" of a no-deal Brexit. And at the end of their press conference, Mr Varadkar was picked up by the microphones telling Mr Tusk: "They'll give you terrible trouble, the British, for this." Former UKIP leader, and now an independent MEP, Nigel Farage, tweeted back at Mr Tusk: "After Brexit we will be free of unelected, arrogant bullies like you and run our own country. Sounds more like heaven to me."
I mean he's absolutely right, this is in regards to people like Nigel Farage and Boris Johnson who trumpeted the loudest for brexit. Then they vanished in the night once they got it, with no plan or anything, they just dumped it all and left.
I mean he isn't wrong, having to waste the last two years with a non nonsensical and self destructive waste of time like Brexit probably is frustrating when you also realize most of the people pushing it either have no idea what they're doing or are only doing it for their own personal gain.
While spot on it probably isn't really productive given how easily it has already been spun into referring to anyone who voted Brexit.
doesn't help the press have run the headline "Tusk: Special place in hell for Brexiteers" Good work BBC.
Tbh this just makes him look like a tool and doesn't help his cause amongst the people who he wants to convince
I like this Donald T. a lot better.
if he had directed this at Brexiteers, i'd agree with you, but given that he's directing at the likes of farage and johnson who just wanted to fuck shit up, he's right on the money. Again, this isn't the EU's mess to clean up, it's the UKs.
I uh what? How's he a tool by expressing genuine discomfort dealing with people that have no idea how trading works in real life?
Absolutely, but the title of this will be "EU man says brexiteers should rot in hell", furthering this insane anti-European sentiment that's festered and been coaxed for years in the UK. That's all that'll happen as a result of this.
There is literally nothing he can say or do to convince the people that still support brexit. This far in if you still look at brexit as something positive you're either dangerously out of touch with reality or maliciously short sighted and stand to gain financially from it.
And that's not the fault of him or his statements and he shouldn't be blamed for that. Blame the British people/government for not bothering to hold our print media to any kind of factual accountability.
Finally, some good fucking Donald.
It's harsh but considering to threat to the global economy he's right to be pissed.
Yeah this President Donald T. actually seems to know what he's talking about and he's not using Twitter to announce his opinions. What more could you ask for?
When brexiteers and UK papers spin this and take it out of context; as we know they will, It'll just cement my view that we've had this coming for a long time and the EU is really better of without us. Completely shooting ourselves in the foot.
That's because they never expected Brexit actually happening. They were planning on using it failing to leapfrog themselves into greater places of power.
