>Russia's military and state-sponsored media have reacted with a fire and fury of their own to the news that the US will exit the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF Treaty), one of the last barriers preventing a full-on Cold War-like arms race in Europe
>The US and NATO concluded recently that Russia had spent years developing a banned nuclear-capable weapon, thereby making the treaty meaningless.
>Russia recently said it built one of the most devastating nuclear weapons of all time in the form of an undersea torpedo with a 100-megaton nuclear warhead that's designed to be unstoppable against all missile defenses and create tsunami-size waves, and a radioactive hellstorm that stomps out life on earth for thousands of square miles for decades.
While Trump was the one who pulled us out of the treaty, the allegations against Russia violating the treaty has apparently been accumulating for decades.
i can already smell the nuclear fallout building up in front of my windows
im gonna call bs considering what it took to carry and drop a bomb half that size.
not to mention at 50mt it about blinded the crew of that aircraft about 30 miles away from the blast.
basically, you'd not only ass blast whatever it hit with a torpedo, but you'd assblast the submarine, quite a few ships nearby, and blind anyone within a 50 mile radius.
i also wonder how you'd get a warhead that weighs like 40 tons to actually go anywhere on a torpedo.
"we've not been developing weapons that violate the treaty, how dare you leave based on that - we'll attack you with our new shiny weapons with that kind of attitude"
In an earlier article it said that the submarine was the torpedo, it is suppose to be an automated drone going in the sea. Then when button is pressed it will go to the nearest sea-side city and blows it the fuck up. No launching or anything its just going to use the high yield to blow up the entire city even when it is under water.
oh well when you make the whole thing a torpedo yeah that makes total sense.
pretty elaborate way to blow up a city, but hey thats what nuclear annihilation is all about.
taking russian media seriously is akin to taking north korean media seriously.
I've got spuuuuurs...
I dont wannt to set the woorrrlllddd ooonnn fiiirrreeeee...
100MT won't create a tsunami sized wave. Nor would it be undetectable as a torpedo since it would be like 20 feet wide at least, nor would it even be relevant to the INF treaty since they claim it is intercontinental and not a ballistic missile
There are reasons why the Tsar Bomba had its original megatonnage goal halved.
Delivering a 100 megaton nuclear device is laughably impractical.
Past 50 megatons, the vast majority of the effect ends up being blown into outer space or the upper reaches of the atmosphere.
In the context of this idea, a sea level detonation has the explosive potential mostly absorbed by the ground.
A huge device compared to several smaller devices are nowhere near as useful or efficient on either a tactical or strategic scale.
"How dare you pull out of the treaty we stopped following!"
So essentially; we didn't listen to a god damn thing and we now have a metal gear sub.
"how dare you accuse us of violating a nuclear arms treaty! we'll nuke you for that!"
My nuke is betterer than yours, it ignores your missile defenses.
Also are they seriously gloating about wiping out life on Earth in an area for decades? Are these people fucking mental?
I don't know why, but the photo in the article is incredibly funny to me. I can't tell if it's because Putin looks photoshopped into the sub or because he looks so casual looking out.
The bigger the weapon, the more eagerly a scumbag will try to hide behind it. "I have the power to end countless lives in an instant while leaving many more forever destroyed. Obey me, or I'll do it."
It's a ransom. No more, no less.
They can gloat about all the programs that they don't have.
The amount of projects they've said they're developing or have already that can make "The West tremble in fear" is absolutely absurd. They throw these things out, make a rough concept and repeat it over and over as propaganda. Like those autonomous AI driven tank killer that turned out to be shitty RC controlled ATVs, or the missile systems that can "shoot down any plane in the world" That just got blown up by Israeli F-16s.

I don't know why but it really irks me when people refer to robots as cyborgs.
Yeah, true fucking dat.
A cyborg, short for "cybernetic organism", is a being with both organic and biomechatronic body parts. The term was coined in 1960 by Manfred Clynes and Nathan S. Kline.
And yet people are dumb and misuse it.
putin's reaction elevates this from a mere meme to fine art
just dont let any nuclear fallout come to the southern hemisphere please thanks
all of this is pointless because 1) We have more than enough nuclear weapons to nuke them to oblivion if they used it and 2) Russia has at least some of its nuclear weapons on a deadman switch to respond to a counterforce strike
a 100MT unmanned nuclear sub is more a liability for getting caught than it is for a practical weapon
That's a pretty shit comparison though. That same robot has been demonstrated to operate firearms and vehicles.
"It's a cyborg"
You're missing the ORG, you dense fucker!
it's just a dick waving contest. these people *adore* power, and an actual nuclear war would destroy any and all influence they currently hold. these oligarchs would rather be launched into the sun than lose even a small percentage of their power, let alone all of it.
i'd still knock on wood, though.
