• Some questions about mapping ( Hammer )

Hey! I'm seeking a way to import Scp Cb corridors into hammer, sadly I couldn't find a way, except to Export the file as a Smd and compile it as a mdl file which is not the good Thing to do, Right? Because first the collisionmodel isn't "proper" and create a Static prop only for this I guess isn't the right thing to do. So my question would be, how can I import a corridor ( From the Scp CB game ) into the map without having collision issues please? And so, the correct way to do it ? I hope my english wasn't hurtfull to you, thanks for helping me.
Smd compile is the best way to do this. Ofc source engine has limitations about collision models, so I guess you'll have to create your own OR create it in the hammer with nodraw/clip brushes
If you use 3dsmax or get the trial version you could use the wallwormplugin and export the smd as a vmf then cut paste the brushesinto your map
Thanks for you answer ! Argh... So It mean I will have to rework everythings by hand :/ Thanks ! I'm looking into it.
I successfully make my way through, and so downloaded 3ds Max and installed Wall Worm. However, when I'm tring to export the Smd That I imported, as a Vmf, it's not creating any bsp file and then obviously say that it's missing. I looked for where the problem could come from and found that it was due to the fact that the Smd wasn'set as a Brush Geometry" and then clicked on: "Set Selection as Brush Geometry". But, things are still the same, no bsp. I then tried to export it as a Source Mdl file, but since the part that I want to import is kinda "big" it showed => "Error: Too many indices in source". Could you guide me on how could I export it as a Vmf successfully please?
here's some refference guids and video's to look at Brush Geometry https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=11&v=9sV4_3Ybtbc once you have exported the vmf compile it in Hammer to produce the bsp
To add to that, if you register on autodesk as a student you can use all their software for free so long as you don't use if for commercial use.
Depends on that tho, do you actually need to be a student / teacher? Or is student just a broader term for "someone who is learning"? I'm totally not asking because I'm not willing to spend $250 a month for something I rarely have to use, just a question.
I think they changed it so all you have to do is mark yourself as a student when making an account. Before you had to have a school email address, so the broader term probably applies here. Keep in mind that any 3dsMax files you save with the student version will permanently be marked as the student version, and will have pop up saying that it was made in a student version and isn't for commercial use when you open them.
Yes, you also need to find your school when making the student account and tell when you graduate.
