https://www.dualshockers.com/capcoms-hideaki-itsuno-chose-devil-may-cry-5-over-dragons-dogma-2/ I hope DMC5 sells like hotcakes so DD2 does get made. DD1 was an absolute blast.
for the love of god I hope they make DD2 next Or at least something Dragon's Dogma-like.
I hope he does work on DD2 afterwards. As much as I wanted an actual conclusion to DMC, I'd like to see DD get some love since DD:O won't be coming to the West.
I love Dragon's Dogma, but I think him choosing DMC5 first was the right call.
Dragon's Dogma is probably my favorite game of all time but it's clearly unfinished, especially if you take a look at all the concept art of the content that didn't make it to the final game. I'd die for a sequel with the scope the original was supposed to have.
While it's great to see everyone's favorite foul-mouthed anti-hero get some love once, I'd really like to see what they would do with a DD sequel. That game has so much potential (and room for polish).
Dragon's Dogma is one of those rare games where I notice it's issues--Which are surprisingly large--and yet I still love the hell out of it. I like to think I'm more critical of where a game fails and where it doesn't, but DD just makes me ignore those problems and I never really figured out why, it's THAT good.
I can't find the slide that says it but they straight up only got to make half the game they wanted on the time and money they had. There was going to be some wild shit in that game. You were gonna go to the moon. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1844/ffa00d9d-58cb-4135-b779-0fc0ecf7cf66/image.png
As a big fan of the game, I'm happy to learn that the idea of making a sequel is on the table at all. I had pretty much given up on that when I learned about Dragon's Dogma Online.
I've been hoping for Dragon's Dogma 2 for a long time but DMC fans have been hoping for DMC5 for a lot longer. This was the right call. It's also a good sign that DD2 could made in the future,. which I really didn't think would happen
Just gonna echo everyone else really. Although I would've personally preferred DD2, DMC needed a shot in the arm to get going again. DmC (the not Capcom developed one) kind of left the series and the fans in a divided and muddied state unsure of the future of the entire IP, especially since Itsuno (at the time) expressed no desire to make another DMC. I'm glad he did jump back on though, and that we're getting DMCV. I really hope it does well in terms of sales and reception, and I certainly hope this does pave the way for DD2. Just imagining a DD game made in the RE Engine with online multiplayer (even if just co-op) has me salivating.
I thought there were already two Dragon's Dogma games out. Would this not be DD3?
There's technically 3 releases in total right now, which is the original, Dark Arisen and Online. Dark Arisen was a sort of re-release and expansion to the original game, and Online is a Japan-only MMO-ish spinoff. But either way there hasn't been a proper sequel/DD2.
I liked so much of Dragons Dogma but the world felt so empty, I couldn’t finish the game. One of the best combats of any rpg I’ve played.
Dragon's Dogma was like the lovechild of Monster Hunter and Shadow Of The Colossus and dressed in Dark Souls' hand-me-downs. I loved it. Got all the achievements on the Steam version. If they do make a sequel I would be so happy. Hell, if they ever bring DDOnline westward I would be fine with that, too.
The slides you talking about at probably in this GDC talk. https://youtu.be/3G5o3KhXv6w
I'd cum my fucking pantaloons right off if they made it support co-op and being able to bring a friend, who has their own main pawn accompanying them. Even if the devs keep the game almost as is, it'd be a perfect third-person dungeon crawler. I almost wish similar games existed with this format DD has
Disappointment travels in packs, Arisen.
