What? No cheese for Earth?
I like how the headline implies that the nasa administrator is personally going to live on the moon forever
So when can we move? I don't wanna live on the same planet as Trump.
Wait, so we are not landing on the moon?
NASA Administrator: "Fuck you all, I'm out."
"NASA announces plan to return to the Moon for the 10th time"
NASA repeats it self. Actually do it this time you pussys
NASA would love nothing more, funding does not necessarily permit.
"I can finally read my Tom Clancy novels"
Little did you know he's secretly been in talks with the moon men for Trump Tower Tranquillitatis.
How does government work on the moon? Will there be zoning from different countries? Can we reasonably claim a part of the moon? I suppose the only enforcement for crime in the mean time would be to send a missile or spend more on sending authorities. I want to go.
already agreed upon, international water laws apply to other planets
I think right now the main plan is to have a space station in lunar orbit called the Gateway, and from there I'm guessing doing more Apollo style lunar excursions, rather than a permanent surface presence for now.
I wish i could go to moon and stay
It sounds like an insult: "Why don't you just do everyone a favor and go to the moon and stay?
100% certain we cannot build a self sustaining colony on the moon
watch us cunt
if we could tap into the water supplies up there it's very doable, with hydroponics (and eventually human waste) you could establish a food supply. problems would be heating and resources, but if the rumoured supplies of helium-3 are as high as is speculated the heating/energy issue could be solved. Add into that people finally engaging in lunar mining activity and suddenly, theoretically and with a massive initial fiscal and resource outlay, you do have a self-sustaining colony on the moon.
The Nazis have been doing it successfully for 70 years
we have no idea what the long term effects of 1/6th gravity are, the genetic issues with living in space for long term, let alone reproduction in the future.
self-sustaining doesn't have to mean 'we're gonna live up there for 100 years'. I took it to mean 'there's no way we could put people up there without having to constantly send stuff for them to eat/use'. Those are good objections/points though.
Ankle weights for everybody!
even then we still don't know what the (1-5) year long term effects are, we could easily supply a base with ISS length missions though
