What a bad idea for a game.
I was still amazed how they fucked up everything about Guitar Hero Live was, especially when Rock Band 4 came out around the same time and did everything right. No backwards compatibility. A more complicated control scheme despite being catered to a more casual fanbase. Ditching the appealing punk aesthetic entirely. And worst of all, a fucking subscription service making the game almost unplayable for legacy players without piracy, despite the fact that every other game in the series lacks that issue.
The 6 button approach was an interesting idea. But everything about the game was handled so poorly I can barely believe it.
Also the cool guitar rock game had fucking Skrillex of all artists in it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvnr8cU9-8Q
This visually looks like someone made a terrible mockup of a guitar hero UI and slapped it over a live performance
The best part is that they have a full band to simulate a concert which would realistically feature one guy standing at his Mac.
I'm actually surprised Activision is providing refunds
I really liked the change of the control scheme, let's you barre a chord and feels more guitary in general. Shame the rest of the game was garbage. Anyone knows if you can hook up that guitar to PC and play something similar?
Clone Hero Live might be your best bet so far https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtyrvJ2YUCw Download
6-fret mode in Clone Hero is the only reason I haven't just tossed out or sold my GHL controller.
It's actually pretty cool in person for some reason, much better than just watching the video makes it look, but ya I'll still take 3d characters/bandmates that you customise over that any day. Rock Band 4 was easily the superior of the two games for a variety of reasons, but I still don't regret buying Guitar Hero Live since it was genuinely pretty fun. I just wish they'd remaster Guitar Hero III someday; I have so many good memories of that game.
