When creating a version 7.3 or 7.4 vtf, from what I can tell if you include an information resource ( author contact etc...) the texture will simply not work.
I have tested this in gmod and ep2 using both vtf versions. Any time the information resource is added the texture will be missing in engine and in hammer. The material will *work* as in material params work correctly. The texture WILL show in the hammer texture picker too.
Has anyone else had this issue? I have looked and there is no documentation about this at all.

What are you using to generate the file? Chances are whatever you are using is doing it wrong.
vtfedit 1.3.3 from 2011 :^) its not a big deal just got me scratching my noggin for a bit.
