Billed as a blend of classic Zelda and dark science fiction (with some other various inputs) RtU was one of the first successful Kickstarter games... back in late 2012.
Six years later, the game seems to have evolved from the initial pitch quite significantly - both visually and mechanically. Compare the newest media above with the slightly outdated gameplay and almost obsolete Kickstarter trailer below.
It now displays a level of polish that is incredibly rare for solo-developed games. It gives the vibe that it is going to be something really unique and special - if it is released before we all die of old age, of course.

What's the game about?
I called the game enigmatic for a reason - you know just as much as I. The developer seems intent on keeping an air of mystery about the game until its released.
Once every few months, a sporadic update will show another tiny glimpse into the games fascinating world.
The only hints to go off are the repeated references to sunlight, some area names from an outdated world map and the game's name itself. Hmm.
So when's it coming out?
Nothing solid. There is apparently a internal testing Discord server for Kickstarter Backers which I am unfortunately not privy to.
If you backed the Kickstarter in a past life and forgot all about it then you should definitely get in there! And tell us here what its like.
I don't want to get anyone's hopes up, but to quote the last update from Dec last year:
these are late tests representing the core game in basically a completed state. i said production would be done by now but please give me a few more months
So who knows? Maybe this year.
Maybe before the heat death of the Universe.
But what's important is that now you're cursed to wait for this game, just like me.

Oh dang, just a few days ago I was thinking about this game! I'd seen one of the earlier trailers and it seemed like it had just fallen off the map after that. Glad that it's still in development, even if there's no concrete release date. I love the style.
