I hope Killzone returns. The Helghast are so fucking cool.
I don't think it will.
There is no way any company could portray them as cool or having a sympathetic side to them anymore without being labeled "literal nazis"
Honestly I think Shadowfall killed it for the series. The ending of KZ3 was a huge game changer plot-wise, and the direction they took it after that was going to make or break the story arch. I think if they bring it back they need to do a remake of KZ1 or do some kind of prequel thing. Shadowfall's world makes no sense to me.
Frankly, I'm not sure I even want to see another KZ after seeing how badly GG fucked up 3 and 4. It's pretty safe to say we'll never see another anyway since they haven't even been arsed to remaster 2.
The 3 story trailer is just about one of the best trailers to ever exist imo

3 was bad??? I dunno man, I really enjoyed 3.
Just make a killzone where you get to play as the badass looking space nazis
I did too but I think I get why people thought it was a step down. They removed that weighty feel 2 had which while it gave a bit of clunkiness to the controls, it really did add a feeling of impact with the gunplay and overall combat. SP-wise it was closer to regular sci-fi in terms of visual style and setpieces instead of the gritty war-torn feel 2 had. (Personally loved the colorful and snowy environments in 3 though). The new smoother combat made it less tactical and more CoD/BF-esque in pacing, which is alright but it definitely doesn't feel as unique as the second game.
And there's Shadow Fall which feels even less of a Killzone game and more of a straight up sci-fi Battlefield game. It's not bad but it really lost that unique feel the previous two games (especially KZ2) had.
Yeah, KZ3 got rid of a lot of the stuff that made KZ1 and 2 relatively different at a time when the Sci-Fi/Modern shooter field was over saturated. Though KZ1 had a pacing mess a mile long and its technical issues were fucking abysmal.
Of all of the 1st party Franchise that seemed to have suffered the most, Killzone/inFamous/and Resistance are my tops. All but the last had weaker 3rd installments.
KZ3 had absolutely no identity. Going from KZ2 to KZ3 the effort to simplify the franchise into something closer to Call of Duty is extremely obvious, which is ironic because 2 was popular because it actually differentiated itself from every other shooter on the market.
I thought Killzone 3 was a blast. It reminded me of Doom 2 in the way it took its predecessor's strengths and threw new twists into the mix.
