https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/feb/12/measles-outbreak-in-philippines-kills-70-with-vaccine-fear-mongering-blamed The deaths, mostly of children, are part of an alarming wave of measles cases worldwide over the past few years. While we think the US is bad, look in Philippines has more worse with 70 children were killed from it.
Bear in mind that the Russians have been pushing this shit on social media. They're a common enemy against us all.
Yeah I've been noticing this on my Facebook feed recently too. It really sucks. The article in the OP mentions it but this started with this. An experimental dengue vaccine that resulted in over a hundred deaths. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dengvaxia_controversy Which resulted in a staggering decrease of only 32% of Filipinos believing in vaccination. https://cebudailynews.inquirer.net/209069/most-filipinos-no-longer-agree-with-vaccinations It's really terrible and it highlights one of the biggest issues here, which is the lack of education regarding health and the irresponsibility of the government.
And it could've been a lot worse had it not been for Vaccinations, but shit, people are gullible when enough people fearmonger.
Incredibly sad and devastating. I apologize if this isn't the right time to mention it, but I hope these events speak to antivaxxer communities in our own community. Can't believe some people here use "measles hardly goes around anymore!" as an argument to not vaccinate their children.
I'd be amazed if there was someone competent enough to use facepunch that didn't believe in vaccines, but there have been some truely stupid people on these forums.
If we can have a guy who victim-blames a little girl for getting shot then we certainly have some anti-vaxxers lurking around too
I've argued with at least one person who was at minimum a vaccine skeptic (or just trolling) on here. They seem to have nuked themselves tho.
As Nachy posted, a flawed vaccine killed 106 people last year, which destroyed confidence in the procedure. It will take a very long time to recover from that.
Which vaccine was this?
Pro-disease adults disgust me.
I know its not popular opinion but at this point with them doing this, it endangers other peoples lives. Vaccines should be enforced some how, perhaps giving those who don't vaccinate their kids should lose custody, and be fined.
this country's fucked, man
I read there's no evidence it killed people. It's been approved in the US and the EU. The reports of death came after a temporary halt. I think it's more likely that it's uneducated people drawing parallels between the temporary halt and the deaths.
