Why is national fucking security and fair unbiased elections a fucking partisan issue? You should want both, regardless of political party. Unless of course, you’re one of the parties benefitting from said national security issues.
3 things
Tribalism, Propaganda, and the GOP.
Superficially, both parties want these things. The devil is in the details.
A new poll showed 60% of Americans think Trump should be impeached if he was proven to be colluding with Russia or committing obstruction of justice.
60%
39% of americans believe trump should be let go free if he is proven to have been aided by a hostile foreign government in securing an election through illegal means, or proven to be guilty of blocking criminal investigations into people who associate with him.
39% of americans dont deserve to be americans.
Call me skeptical, but I really doubt the GOP wants fair, unbiased elections. There is simply so much opposition among the GOP to measures that promote it that it is obvious they only care about having elections that help them win.
Never forget the latest mindset:

I'll just repeat what I said before: why not give them their wish, but do it monkey's paw style. Deport them to fucking Chechnya, so they can enjoy being russian AND smack dab in the middle of an insurgency.
Nixon went out like this though. Even after 5-6 years of him being a slimeball and being directly connected to the burglary, it was him pushing just a little too far and his base broke from him.
watergate wasn't quick nor the first evil thing he did.
God, everytime I see that the one on the left just looks like he's trying to hold in the biggest shit.
That isn't even remotely true and you goddamn know it.
how do you feel about brian kemp then
Gotta love how these sort of shitty hillbilly conservatives suddenly stopped being anti-Russian the second it turned out that it manipulated with the election and made their shitty god emperor president.
What I fucking love is they probably lived in a time when we as American's knew Russia wanted to fuck us, and their parents probably weren't not fans of Russia.
Trumps supporters are already traitor in my eyes...the whole Russian thing though? God forgive me, but it makes me want to drag em outta their houses and round em up in camps and send them off somewhere. The more and more he loses supporters, the more his true cult begins to show. Like pealing an onion, the worst part is under a
few layers.
And these folks thinks Putin would let them go. I'm sure if Russia took over some how, and could do what they want, they'd gladly gun down Americans, whether it be a
Red or Blue. The Russian govt is no one's ally except for themselves, and they are out for it all.
Because fishes do not see outside of their own pond.
You isolate people from each other, and the only things they are seeing are either propaganda or hardliners from the other side. You do that, and the other sides looks like a monster which needs to be dealt with through every and any means at your disposal. Because of this, people will do whatever it takes to control or destroy the other side, even if their notions are based solely off the hardliners and not the actual party.
From what I've seen rating someone bad reading is Chonch's new "I can't refute your point but don't want to admit you're right" tactic.
I don't really remember a time when republicans liked the Mueller investigation tbh
A number of Republicans have supported the Mueller investigation being finished to completion because, if Trump did nothing wrong, then Mueller will exonerate him by being unable to find anything to charge him with (something they're quite familiar with after repeated Benghazi investigations in an attempt to pin something on Hillary).
That number has been dropping thanks to a constant stream of disinformation, propaganda, and Presidential obstruction of justice.
Because people stopped laughing at Newt Gingrich and start taking anything that comes out of his mouth seriously, kind like how pol was haha troll posts until people started believing the koolaid.
As someone from the state of Illinois, the democratic party is corrupt, and would want elections in their favor, no matter how.
But saying that, I still trust them for the republicans. But the dems need to be replaced with actual left leaning people, more Bernies and AOCs, less Hillarys and Bidens.
As someone from Illinois, I think this characterization is overrated.
right when he was appointed he was almost uniformly praised by people on both sides.
Reminder that turtleman literally admitted that being fair and balanced would be unfair to the GOP

Rural illinois is so salty about the way the system works that they keep petitioning to turn Chicagoland into a separate state because its overwhelmingly blue population outweighs low pop farmland at the state level, much like the somewhat recent proposed California split-ups that basically doubled republican voting power while lowering if not entirely overwhelming the blue populations with grandiose state-scale gerrymander style splits through LA and SF
As a Chicagoan though, we have some historically corrupt and often caught politicians dating back forever and currently are facing a third Daley family member (brother and son of two former mayors) running for office at the end of this month so hey uh welcome mayor Daley I guess.
Because a lot of people genuinely believe that the Mueller investigation isn't really about national security and unbiased elections, but is instead making it up and going "no, really guys, it is!" in order to "get at" Trump. That's why "witch hunt" has been tossed around so much. They claim democrats/Mueller don't really care about justice, they're just using justice as a facade/excuse for party politics.
I feel like it's always been partisan in they eyes of the public.
it is not fair that cities can control state-level politics and dictate laws to people who live in rural areas despite the fact that most the time urban populations remain in urban areas.
One person's vote should not hold more influence than any others, plain and simple. I say this as someone who lives in downstate Illinois.
how is it in any way fair that people who do not live in the city and never will or want to live in the city have no representation because they are outvoted by those who live in the city?
