it'd be the same as a woman trying to promote women in gaming or any other kind of person doing the same, there's nothing wrong with someone who is a minority in their community to speak up and promote what they stand for
It's something that really bothered me through the 2000's in the UK when coming out was a big thing. Suddenly people switched from being their normal selves to flamboyant camp American accent talking lunatics as if coming out meant they had to join a club and start acting in a certain way.
i feel like you're missing the concept of trying to promote these things without screaming "YO I'M GAY" every time your fuzzy guard pays off or you get that mad damage off a wallbounce. Like there's tastefully doing it and then there's doing it in a way that is destructive to both your own cause and your own public image. LGBT folk definitely need promotion in nearly every walk of life, but making a giant twat out of yourself is not the way to do it, and he is definitely not the person for the job.
