Jesus fucking Christ, Bezos, how much money do you NEED?!
Hey! It’s a small up and coming company. They really need the tax breaks to survive.
/s
If the system allows for it you can bet your ass corporations will take advantage of it.
Horrible, but not remotely surprising.
ten years from now: jeff bozos becomes first man worth a trillion dollars
and nothing will change libtards ahahahaha /s
The rich get richer, the poor loose their jobs, even if they company is doing great. How do they really think this won't bite them in their asses.
I mean, will it? What will happen?
What do you think. It won't be peaceful. We need to fix this now before it used by someone who just wants power, or worse.
Can't blame them though, the law makes this possible. If I could avoid paying billions in taxes by using legal means of course I would do that. Blame the government for making it possible.
Well, if money keeps flowing to the top 1% there's not going to be a lot of people left to buy the products.
All of it.
what was even the point of pushing for a lower corporate rate when they don't pay income tax anyways...
I'm not sure this is the proper mentality considering corporations meddle in politics to keep the law in their favor.
Future-proofing their income in the event that they are, someday, subject again to income tax.
Well, I guess it puts a chip on my shoulder, I've paid more income tax than a giant corporation.
I'm more American?
Yeah that would be fine and dandy if it weren't for the fact that the only reason those loopholes exist in the first place is because the people utilising them bribed them into law. This is not some smart individual finding an error which will be promptly fixed, this is somebody using their money to rewrite the rulebook in their favour.
I think that transnational corporations deserve plenty of the blame. Many actively lobby for such policies, and we're at the point that they're creating races to the bottom within the United States. They use extreme bargaining power to convince states to drop billions of dollars in tax revenue so they can stick a headquarters somewhere. Then the local community gets absolutely demolished as wealthier workers gentrify and displace the original population.
Do we have a problem with companies using tax credits that are given to them?
Did you refuse your tax credits this year?
Who do you think is lobbying to get these tax credits signed into law in the first place? It's not just a matter of "this is the law, megacorporations are just following it, it just happens to give them unfathomable amounts of money", these corporations are WRITING these laws.

The difference is that I didn't get to write the law that says how much I pay.
I think I'm going to blame the older generations as a whole for being passive, lacking foresight or humility and allowing this to happen, I will blame them for their unmeasured greed and will do whatever I can to vote the scum out and tighten up the bolts on everything as much as reasonably appropriate.
consume the wealthy etc
We absolutely can. They weren't forced to do it.
If I had the opportunity to pay $0 in taxes despite making billions in profit, and thus paying nothing for my extensive use of public infrastructure and services that I profit off of, I fucking wouldn't. Because I'm not a goddamn cunt.
then you should blame them for spending large sums (but not larger than the sum they saved) of money lobbying for lower corporate taxes and loopholes in the first place.
the tax code doesn't exist in a vacuum
When talking about billions of dollars, I strongly believe most people would do it even if it made them a "goddamn cunt" in the eye of the public.
You say that, but money corrupts, I personally don't think I want to be rich because I don't know what it might do to me. I would like enough money to get by and have some nice things, but I have no reason to think I'd be immune to the effects of too much wealth. There even exists therapists for newly wealthy people to help them cope with the fact that they have millions of dollars while others are struggling.
Based on what?
What the fuck kind of a difference would a few billions more make at this point? I can't even fathom what you could use a single billion for.
Not everyone sees unending accumulation of material wealth as their single most important goal in life.
Exactly what makes the US public rise up in protest anymore? How can this shit keep going on and on and on is such a public way, in full view of everyone? How is it that amazon HQ hasn't had a few encounters with broken windows or nailbombs? Why aren't the streets filled with amazon employees striking for better pay? What's going on?
You've got it backwards. Money isn't some supernatural entity that automatically changes a previously well-meaning person into a monster. It's got no power of its own.
However, individuals who have a pathological relationship with wealth in the first place and little to no empathy towards others are more likely to succeed in a competitive society that materially rewards greed, selfishness and backstabbing. That's why this type of person is over-represented among the ultra-rich. Because those who actually care didn't get to that level, since they didn't care enough to exploit other people to reach it.
