So basically they're going to be removing 98% of locations altogether.
They ought to just make all the stops in city and state parks.
more like pokemon stop than go
so people like me who live in rural England need to take a 15 minute drive to be able to play? shove that
It was just an idea. They definitely need to come up with something better, because while people don't come onto my property they do stand at the corner of my property late at night since its a stop. It can be pretty creepy when you hear people outside your house at 2am a couple times a week.
In England and Wales there is a "right to roam" on certain types of privately owned land, and there are maps publicly available of where this applies. Dunno if other countries have similar things but could use those
I don't think that's true in the US, we take a much tougher stance on trespassing.
Yeah I learned pretty quick here that there is no such law in the US. I was hiking on a nearby mountain and this guy literally opened up with fucking bullets from his cabin because I stepped like 2 feet over his property line to get around a thick patch of bush and some downed trees.
The sheriff I called promptly after told he that technically he could give me a ticket for trespassing and the guy was within his rights to literally fucking murder me for stepping on his property if he really wanted. I of course got off the hook for that and after that I've taken a very careful stance on where I hike.
Speaking as a current player, this outcome doesn't really change much and Niantic has already been doing most of what this is asking them to do. All this settlement requires of them is to have a dedicated form for removal requests (which they already have), respond to all requests in a reasonable time frame (which they already do), warn players in-game not to trespass and be courteous (which they already do), and allow local governments to request hours of operation to be enforced for public parks (which they already do - there are many public parks where all PokéStops/Gyms automatically shut down at night per the park's posted hours).
The only really new element here is that those who joined the class action will have everything within 100 meters of them removed, and Niantic must remove PokéStops in the future if they fall within 40 meters of a complainant's private property.
It's important to bear in mind that this lawsuit was filed back in 2016 when Niantic didn't have the support force to keep up with complaints. They've gotten much better at it now and every complaint case I've heard of has been investigated and responded to.
Pokémon Go... Directly to jail.
Yeah. Two gyms near me were recently removed. One was at a fire department and people were blocking the driveway, and the other was at a synagogue. The Synagogue already had raids disabled months ago and as of the other day, they removed it completely. Luckily, they just swapped two new gyms in down the street from both of them so it's not like anything significant was lost.
One thing Florida does right is in the state constitution you can't own property from a certain distance of the median water line. Doesn't stop big hotels like the Emerald Grande from trying and actually running people out of the water in front of their hotels. Police have told them and have said they are no longer running people off the beaches
Wish there was more gameplay if you don't live in the city. Ironic that the vast majority of pokemon games take place in the footpaths in the woods between cities but pokemon go works based on population.
Also wish the combat didn't suck
