They should've given the choice the consumer and just offered two models of case, one with fancy artwork and a manual and a barebones one. Maybe like a dollar or two price difference.
I can see why someone would care about these being missing but to be honest...ehhhhhhh.
I never cared about manuals when I was a kid. Maybe I read a couple when I was really bored, but they're just not that amazing. If I was in control of things I would have replaced manuals with a little minibook in the mid 2000s, include artwork and behind the scenes trivia. I feel like that would be better than a manual.
he mentions this briefly in the video, but regardless of your thoughts on Nicalis as a developer or a publisher, i always really appreciate how they include manuals in their physical Switch releases.
some of them are made as homages to NES game manuals which is really cool! the one for Isaac Rebirth was styled after the Zelda manual, to the point where they replicated errors in it for authenticity's sake.
the Cave Story+ one was a delight to see, as well
Smash Ultimate's lack of... anything... inside the box just really really sucks.
It makes me feel like my insistence on buying Switch games physically isn't actually paying off in any meaningful way.
