Hi all, I trying to find info about that but can't see any post with explanation. The only way I can see is to: Not update server Tell players not to update Client. 1) It's not possible (ask player not update) 2) I can see there is server with no wipe although users update client Maybe there is an option to Restore data after wipe? World/user data etc'? Hope I will find solution before 3/5/19 Regards, Oz
If you're the owner of the server, then you have access to a save file that contains all of the building/entity data. On wipe day, that file is ignored and a new one is made with a different number at the end of it. What you need to do, is simply rename the "old" file to have the same number as in the new one. That number is the version of the change, so I'm not sure what it currently is, maybe something between 150 and 200. So in short, find the server file that is, for instance, "yourservername.180.sav" and rename it to "yourservername.181.sav". If you're using a procedural map however, you'll also need to back it up and save it to prevent Rust from re-generating it (.map file).
Thank you for your help. So in "/server/my_server_identity" the map sav file. I need to backup and change the name to the new one? for example proceduralmap.4000.12345.175.map to proceduralmap.4000.12345.NEW-NUMBER.map Where I can find the "SERVER-NAME.SAV"? (I have proceduralmap.4000.12345.175.sav) Have this file also: sv.files.0.db - need backup? Thanks again!
If the number for the current version is 175, then once the update hits, you need to change it to 176. And no, I don't think you need to keep the DB files. After the update, if you launch your server without doing anything it will probably create a new SAV file (ending with 176.sav); you only need to delete it and replace with the older one having been renamed to the same name (ending with 176.sav).
OK thank you!
