Now she wants to go back. Just throw in prison.
"Oh shit, this is falling apart now... uhh, yeah, I never wanted to do this in the first place, lol."
I feel like most of these people "asking forgiveness" are just waiting on the next big thing in extremism to come around again.
Not really sure how to feel about this one judging by the comments she made about Manchester in the article, it sounds more like a backhanded apology almost.
Was like a 'Okay, I'm sorry I guess but but but! the coalition bombs women and children of ISIS!'
she was groomed as a minor
i don't see the issue with letting her back when there is no evidence of her causing crimes against humanity or recruiting.
meanwhile there are people publicly spreading propaganda and doing proven things to intice hatred and violence on our streets.
yes she joined the wrong people, but you can't convict every nazi for falling into the wrong crowd, you only convict those who actually did those crimes.
Except she clearly doesn't really regret it outside of ISIS losing, she still sympathises with ISIS as shown by her comments on the manchester bombing. And apparently she was swayed by videos of executions and beheadings. Sorry but even a 15 year old knows that shit is fucked up. There's no excuse she can stay where she is. The government should however take the kid off her hands so it can be raised by someone who isn't a psychopathic lunatic.
She is still legally a UK citizen, we should at least bring her back and put her on trial. There's nothing to be gained about allowing these people to remain stateless and letting them rot in refugee camps, which is a great way of inspiring further extremism.
Reap what you sow really
Indeed, its no surprise so many people flock to extremist groups when we abandon teenage girls in foreign countries and call it justice. This is not how you beat extremism.
I actually like the UK's stance of "fuck these dumb motherfuckers, they can walk their ass back to england because we aren't going to waste actual productive members of western society to get collect some backwards fuck who wanted the replace some jihadists goat as his wife"
I only feel bad for her kid which is going to suffer for her consequences, allowing people to play the system and give them the benefit of the doubt has only sparked right-wing extremism in your country. I don't see why the UK gov't should care when she clearly doesn't show much remorse in her interview.
Sure we can just wash our hands of all responsibility and demonstrate to any would be extremists thinking of following in their footsteps that if they do leave the country to fight as part of an extremist group that the rule of law doesn't apply to them and that even if the group they fight for crumbles we'll happily leave them abroad to join whatever new group inevitably springs up to take their place.
And throw in the potential that this girl and her child die, creating two martyrs for the cause.
But nah fuck it just leave em and if another ISIS pops up just bomb em seems to be working great so far
firstly, if she talks shit about isis WHILE still in syria, she'll be dead.
second, which part of "groomed as a minor" isn't understood?
she has been traumatised, desensitised to decapitations and forced into a situation she didn't expect, that is.. to be abandoned in a shithole with no contact with the outside world.
there is a very high chance she is mentally ill too. she is our citizen, she needs help.
They don't give a fuck what you do. They don't bomb the west because of shit like this, they do it because of their belief that they're superior to the west. You think the people who behead prisoners on the regular give a shit about stuff like this? Stop making justification for their shitty behaviour.
teenagers know fuck all about the real world in general.
and she was still a minor.
She said she was brought in by the videos of executions, so unless she was disensitised while living in Europe I think that's obviously bullshit.
"I was shocked. I didn't know about the kids, actually. I do feel that is wrong. Innocent people did get killed."
Well... Who DID you expect to be killed?
Wait, actually,, why is a soldier's death fine by your logic? Why is the death of an infantryman, someone who either put his or her life on the line either because there was no other option or out of sheer will to defend and serve the country, suddenly ok by your logic?
I'm not gonna say it would be fine if they somehow killed the people that directly said "go to X spot and kill IS troops, and if you kill random civs we don't care lol", but... Those wouldn't be ok either.
No one would.
Those ideals are perpetuating a cycle of death. They don't help one bit, and they just keep on repeating the endless cycle of hate that breeds more attacks like the one in Manchester.
You're right in saying the bombings of syrian villages are wrong. Completely right, but what good comes out of doing the same to the countries that did so? Again, you'll just make the same countries more bloodthirsty for the people who attacked them, which, surprise surprise, ends in more villages getting bombed. It isn't ok. None of the situations are ok, and the problem as a whole doesn't seems to ever go away.
I do have to ask...
Why did you leave and suddenly made it "your fight", from the worst of the sides nonetheless?
You want forgiveness? You will never have it.
Every world leader could shake your hand and bless you with whatever they have, but your own will never, ever forgive you, for joining a group that killed not a single person belonging to the elite that orders whatever people be murdered across the globe, but the people that belong to the group you are from, and that never layed a finger on anyone.
She can also get back in if she gets to a consulate by her own means, she just wants the UK to mount a rescue operation into Syria to get them out, this isn't a reasonable expectation.
you can say all this but legally it means fuck all.
there are plenty of morons around saying the same shit the other way around walking freely.
Yeah and the last thing we need is more of them walking around
because it's true.
marrying and having a paper round job is not automatically make you the wisest, mature person on earth.
Being 15 also doesn't make you a brain dead retard who can't tell beheading people is wrong.
it's not up to you or piers morgan though is it
Which is why I'm arguing we should stop and maybe change things so people like this can't just come running back crying. Just because it's law doesn't make it right.
i suppose all 15 year olds who self harm through online can't tell it's wrong either.
grooming is a very serious issue and take it more seriously please. you may have been 15 but your life experience with a spoonfed background may not be the same as everyone else.
Yeah sorry self harm isn't on par with joining a terror organisation.
If you can't figure out beheading people is wrong by 15 you're kind of a piece of shit sorry.
has she committed any crimes?
the only rhetoric here is people are upset about her reality as a result of being manipulated as a MINOR to join a death cult.
I think I mentioned it in the other thread, but I lean towards RainbowStalin's position on the issue.
Obviously we shouldn't take everyone back, but we aren't going to encourage people to abandon IS by establishing that there's no recourse for people to turn away and come home. If we can't do that for somebody who was radicalized as a 15 year old girl, who the hell can we do it for? This is basic psyops 101 stuff here.
Why are we willing to treat those who commit crimes at home as a minor with a light hand and an understanding that they can't fully weigh the consequences of their actions because of their age, but we won't do that for somebody who went overseas?
Ya really think they sold this girl on the product by saying "Hey, why don't you come on over and help me behead some infidels!", or maybe do you think it might have been a little more nuanced than that?
By your argument, nobody should ever commit a crime ever because they should automatically know its wrong.
She literally says in an interview she was brawn to the organisation through videos of beheading, so apparently, yeah it actually was like this.
is that why a lot of 15 year olds carry knives?
mate, you are either 40+ and out of touch or don't understand how impressionable a teenager can be when groomed online.
