Someone has hijacked a John Oliver billboard to turn him into an NPC meme.

Btw its these dudes:
The Faction previously made a name for itself by installing dozens of phony Trump stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a reaction to a few anti-Trump activists who destroyed the former TV star's real one.
My favourite thing about this NPC meme isn't the whole 'dehumanizing' schtick it's the fact they think calling a racist a racist is somehow indiciative of the persons inability to think for themselves.
The best part about it is that the people who use it can't think for themselves and actually just spout bullshit talking points and buzzwords they hear in their echochamber
"Orange man bad! How will Drumpf ever recover!?" -Brought to you by the only person who thinks for themselves.
Everyone is a sheeple except for me, the smart guy
I kinda respect the creativity.
What creativity? The NPC "meme" is the most forced and repetitive bullshit ever, it's literally just saying over and over again "nobody outside of my deathcult thinks for themselves" ironically being the human equivalent of a spambot.
The right can't meme, but I appreciate the effort that went into hijacking the billboard. Next time use such opportunity for less stale memes.
Except nothing about it is creative. took a used space check, used exact phraseology copypasta check, p sure that exact picture is online like almost a year ago minus putting Oliver sideways and cropping him .
There are most certainly ways to criticize and poke all kinds of holes in liberal braindeadedness from PC overreaction to the herds of screechbeasts that roam fertile fields of twitter to the 'venerated journalists and most important social science contributors' they keep hand feeding to Jordan Peterson despite his crippling terminal engineeritis to the rampant corruption displayed openly in the DNC and alike, putting a year old meme on a billboard like it's street art (a campaign already done three years ago) isn't really pushing the envelope.
In the case of Smollett, that's frankly the very sloppy half-assed racism they're indignant about being accused of in the first place, so def S++ performance there.
The closest thing to a funny part of this NPC "meme" is that the alt-right has more or less realized that their imagined strawman of everyone else is incredibly reductive, it's like they can feel self awareness bumping against the base of their necks, but they're too devoted to having their heads shoved up their asses to look it head on.
to be honest, their hijacking only makes me want to watch his show even more now
so gg 👍
ah the alt right foamheads love it because it's the equivalent of the schoolyard bully tactic known as "Stop hitting yourself".
i mean

I don't know, I feel like out of all late night talk show "comedians/political commentators," John Oliver is the only one that's kind of fitting for the genericized NPC meme. For any other person I'd roll my eyes, but I got a chuckle out of it applying perfectly to Mr. Current Year, though maybe not in the way presented on the billboard which is just another confirmation that the right cannot meme.
And lo, the perpetrator, sick of Oliver making fun of his president made a billboard to make fun of him, seemingly forgetting that Oliver is a comedian and thus this has given him more material to make more jokes about Trump and his supporters. Possibly even using that image or something inspired by it for merchandise to support a charity that goes against the perpetrator's world view.
Whoopse!
Then again I don't really look at the NPC meme from a political perspective, which is clearly what the billboard is going for, on retrospect. To me, the NPC meme is all about just generic conversations. "Did you catch the sport game? I love sport. Team good. Team bad." Which, upon searching, is more of a problem with my knowledge of it; I genuinely thought the meme was, like others, a false attribution to the far right.
I suspect a show art-prop-manager is, right now, shopping for a good-looking "NPC Mask" to buy for next week's show.
Probably. As zukriuchen already showed, Oliver is well aware that he has a group of alt-right people who hate watch him and whine about it, and he enjoys poking fun at them.
https://www.psychologytoday.com/au/blog/pristine-inner-experience/201110/not-everyone-conducts-inner-speech
It's about who has inner monologues and who doesn't.
But is absolutely not where it's ended up. It's now less 'not all people have inner dialogues to dispute held beliefs' and more 'everyone is sheep but me'.
You can't make fun of a man that makes fun of himself
Right leaning talk show host good
Left leaning talk show host bad
NPC meme is like "cuck" or "soyboy" or any other of the dumb shit they come up with in that it only shows you who to not talk to.
I had a giggle at the billboard, but considering the context this usually is it just seems like a bad attempt to attack the guy.
I miss the days when things done "for the lulz" wasn't waist deep in political shit and believing anything was political about it was comically missing the point.
I find it so surreal that the NPC meme was made by the same types of people who draw from maybe the same 6 lines when challenged. The amount of times I've heard "facts don't care about your feelings" or "you're against free speech" when any of their garbage ideals are called out has legitimately made me wonder if there's some sort of script being passed around right wing circles on what they're supposed to say.
This is so unfunny that it's circled around to being funny again
The wojak started that way and I can remember people on 4chan immediately hating it because it was yet another wojak offshoot. It was about to just die off until someone started associating it with politics, which made some people spam it everywhere with the idea of "if they hate this it's because they are the people I hate" and it came back to life. At this point I'm getting tired of seeing wojaks of the month.
The NPC meme is really ironic, because most of the alt-right's hatred of Hillary Clinton can be caricatured in similar ways.
BLONDE LADY BAD!!
BENGHAZI BAD!!
HILLARY EMAILS BAD!!
The NPC meme is monumentally dumb already but the fact that its primary users are about as predictable as the fucking tides really is the cherry and whipped cream on the ice cream.
The best part is I can see John Oliver legitimately using "The Orange Man Bad Show with John Oliver" in a gag. Like the aforementioned "Last Cuck Tonight with Johnny Trigger-Warning."
The man has no shame when it comes to self-degradation. Like Curls said, you can't make fun of a man who merrily makes fun of himself. All you do is give him more material to work with.
But then, I wouldn't expect the NPCs who thought this was a funny idea to have the creativity required to think this through in their programming.
