Former acting FBI director Andrew McCabe saidTuesday that officials briefed a bipartisan group of lawmakers after the bureau opened an investigation into President Trump in May
2017, and that no one in the room pushed back.
“That’s the important part here, Savannah,” McCabe said in an interview with Savannah Guthrie on NBC’s “Today” show. “No one objected. Not on legal grounds, not on constitutional
grounds and not based on the facts.”
The briefing, McCabe said, was with the Gang of Eight — a bipartisan group of lawmakers comprising the Democratic and Republican leaders of the House and Senate, as well as the
leaders from both parties of the House and Senate intelligence committees.
McCabe — who is in the middle of a media tour promoting his new book, “The Threat” — told Guthrie the FBI felt it had good reason to investigate Trump in May 2017 after he fired
James B. Comey as the bureau’s director. He said the bureau thought it was “possible” that Trump was working on behalf of Russia, and opening a case signified that the FBI was
treating the matter as a national security threat.
So Mitch is supporting that fucking national emergency sham despite knowing the FBI thinks he may be a Russian asset.
For reference, the "Gang of Eight" would've included Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan at the time, odds on a twitter tantrum directed at McConnell by the end of the day?
We already know Mitch has no integrity - he just wants to win and get rich.
you know its moments like this, when the wallpaper of partisanship peels back a bit that really gets your blood boiling. Mitch Mcconnell and Paul Ryan have destroyed this country just to keep cheering 'hooray for our side'
This is why spineless cowards shouldn't be senate majority leader.
Let's remember Paul Ryan allegedly shutting down a private discussion of Trump and Rohrbacher being bribed Russian pawns with "This is how we know we're a family."
It's going to be interesting seeing how many members of senior Republican leadership are not indicted or under investigation in a year or two.
Isn't not objecting a good thing? I dunno I'm sleepy.
It just shows they're all willing to accept the advantage they have with a literal russian puppet at the helm until it's proven without a doubt, then they can just play the "I didn't know" card even though it's obvious to everyone.
Precisely, no one objected including the Republicans in the discussion, which implies they agree Trump is/was potentially compromised, but are too scared to openly admit it.
It is, but it also raises concerns of why McConnell and Ryan were still complacent in supporting/propping up Trump despite their knowledge.
This, Congress essentially handed over their oversight responsibilities to the FBI in the name of party unity.
they have (or had in Ryan's case) no incentive to go against trump. Not going against him means they have a rubber stamp for their terrible ideas.
and imo, it's not clear to me that trump supporters would flock to pence if trump got impeached. they don't have the same personality or charisma

This makes Nunes', Ryan's, and McConnell's actions that much more pathetic and cowardly. Senior Republican leadership in both houses are complicit in an international conspiracy to undermine the USA.

Republicans should be embarrassed as shit but they're too busy high-fiving each other over pwning Hillary, more than two years after the election's over.
