Metro :2033 - In 2013, a nuclear war occurred, forcing a large amount of Moscow's surviving population to relocate to underground metro stations in search of refuge. Eventually, communities settled within the underground train stations and developed into independent states over time.
Factions emerged, ranging from the independent peacekeepers the "Rangers of the Order", to the communist "Red Line" faction and the fascist "Fourth Reich", to the more powerful factions such as "Polis", which contained the greatest military power and the most knowledge of the past, and the "Hanza" regime, which controlled the main ring of metro stations by its sheer economic power. As these groups began to evolve, the Red Line and the Fourth Reich quickly entered a state of war, as both sought to destroy the other.

Metro: Last Light - Metro: Last Light takes place in 2034, one year after the events of Metro 2033, following the ending of the original novel in which Artyom's missile strike against the Dark Ones — mysterious beings that seemingly threatened the survivors of a nuclear war living in the Moscow Metro — occurred. The Rangers, a neutral peacekeeping force that operates throughout the system, have since occupied the D6 military facility Artyom visited during the first game.
This is a huge, and not fully explored pre-war bunker, and Artyom, now a Ranger himself, remains unsure whether killing the Dark Ones was the correct decision. Rumors of D6's discovery and its great riches have spread around the Metro; rival factions, such as the Soviet Red Line and Nazi Fourth Reich, hope to seize the bunker and its contents.

Metro: Exodus - Metro Exodus is set after the events of Metro: Last Light, on a post-apocalyptic Earth that has been devastated by a nuclear war.
The game continues the story from Metro: Last Light's "Redemption" ending. Similar to the previous two entries, the player assumes the role of Artyom who flees the Metro in Moscow and sets off on a continent-spanning journey with Spartan Rangers to the far east.
Artyom first travels around the Volga River, not far from the Ural Mountains, to get a ride on a locomotive known as the "Aurora" that heads east for a new life.
The story takes place over the course of one year, starting with a harsh nuclear winter in the metro. Another major character, returning from the previous game and the book Metro 2035, is Anna - who is now Artyom's wife.

There is a thread in the news section for people wanting to complain about the Epic launcher disaster, please keep talk about it minimal here as everything has already been said in that thread.
Despite that silly stuff Exodus is actually really great so it would be great to hear from facepuncher experience, see as we love our gasmasks here!
I enjoyed Exodus but I felt the ending was a bit underwhelming.
which ending did ya get? the evil ending is wild
Pretty sure I got the good ending. I got the ending where they reach the lake and Miller dies but everyone is happy.
It felt rushed to me. Like one minute we're fighting for our lives to save Anna and then the next we're at our end destination with nothing in between.
Yeah I can understand why the good ending is underwhelming, I got a feeling that the whole last level was part of the ending, I like the last level but yeah like the last bit where they're like [sp] we found good place to live and nothing was ever wrong [sp] was kinda eh
Also pretty convenient they had a fuckin working dialysis machine that's never mentioned or seen up until that point and it's a fucking miracle that Artyom is AB+.
I feel like they could've had another train section where you're traveling to the last destination, with some dialogue. would've been nice.
It's the little eye icon with a line through it at the bottom of the reply box.
What did you guys think of the mods? I would say don't sleep on the brighter flashlight mod, very helpful near the end of the game.
One other issue I have is that in parts of the maps you can just be walking around and then you'll run into walls of lethal radiation. For example, on the Volga map or whatever it was, the carriage train depot seems to be surrounded by a wall or radiation to prevent you from getting in from behind.
There are mods already? Or are you talking about the gear upgrades?
Sorry yeah I'm just referring to Gear upgrades.
sadly the only mods are just reshade presets
Well, the night/thermal vision upgrade is useless since it's bugged or something, you can't enable the thermal vision. The extra throwables upgrade I also felt was pointless since you need bullets way more than you need more throwables imo. The second mask upgrade bafffled me a little since it reduces your overall armour rating despite having more armour visually.
Most useful upgrades were the ballistic vest, ammo belt, and the extended batteries to me. I think I missed out on some upgrades tho.
All the vest upgrades are useless except for the bullet one I get that
another annoying thing is the double filter upgrade is kinda useless too, it just means in stead of pressing T every 3 mins, you now just hit it every 5 mins
It doesn't extend the life of the filters just allows you to use two at once.
But yeah a lot of bizarre gear upgrades, well at least the weapon upgrades are all kinda useful.
Uh, so I died and now I can't interact with anything, chage weapons, reload, or turn on my torch. There's no way to revert to the checkpoint before the last one, is there?
afaik the night vision upgrade just makes it clearer, as in less grainy, not necessarily brighter. really annoying too because there's invisible enemies which would have made IR vision useful
also the whole last two hours or so of the game are super nuts. it's like a massively extended version of the microwave hallway from MGS4, Artyom really gets put through the fucking wringer basically as soon as he gets off the train. it's so scary even fighting giant blue space-gorillas can't defuse the tension.
Ah same thing happened to me, sorry yeah revert is the only option
btw guys you can spot a dark one later in the game

In a desperate attempt to not need to replay the tnrie Volga level again I threw myself into the water. The "Oh fuck, oh god" animation fixed it.
To think I could've saved myself 30 mins of gameplay by just trying to force drown dammit. thanks for the info though.
At the very very beginning, when you're in the infirmary, there's a note on the table that lists your bloodtype.
Favorite weapons and area(s)?
I pretty much only used the shambler and the valve (sniper rifle). One hit kill on everything besides boss enemies.
Favorite area was definitely the taiga, with the final winter level coming in second place.
Shambler is fav, in the late game you get the huge magazine upgrade and it becomes a monster. I could kill those gorillas like near instantly
Area has to be Taiga also, but tbh the area is much more like the original games, barely any openness to the whole area (guess its not a complaint just a observation)
Anyone had serious crashing in Metro Exodus? I've updated to the latest drivers, and sometimes the game crashes so hard that my computer freezes and goes entirely black. Every time this happens I for some god awful reason lose tons of progress in-game. It doesn't happen in other games so not sure what it might be.
(i7 8700K, 1080gtx, 16 GB ram, games and windows are on SSDs)
Was wondering when this thread would show up. Thoroughly enjoying the game so far.
Hmm odd, I had the odd crash here or there but nothing constant.
I'd love for a DLC that is just a free room on the train. Give me the ability to change the background, weather, time of day and I'll be real happy.
fav weapon is probably the tihar. it's just so fucking useful for everything, totally silent high-powered automatic sniper assault rifle with crazy huge magazine upgrades.
favorite level would be the final one i think. the fact that the metro is identical to the one in the earlier games except literally everyone everywhere is dead is probably the creepiest thing in the series, it's just so perfectly bleak and apocalyptic in a way nothing else in the franchise has ever been. and it's also just very powerful thematically to me, how Artyom is basically returning to a totally twisted nightmare version of his home and seeing all his fears for the fate of humanity realized.
Has anyone else had problems with headshots not registering? I lost count of the number of times I shot someone in the head and it seemingly went right through them causing them to be alerted and blowing my stealth.
I feel like a lot of my shots go past the head, but never through it.
Use DX11 instead of DX12, apparently some people with nvidia GPUs have had serious issues with the game's DX12 implementation.
