people who try to claim lost items that they know don't belong to them are scum
As someone who works with pet birds, this is exactly why we say to keep them banded. Just like dogs tags they have information that can be traced if the bird was purchased from a breeder and/or store to find the real owner.
I'm almost hoping the list of people who tried it gets leaked. Almost.
I wouldn't paint them all as bastards. I imagine perhaps there are some who legitimately believe that the parrot is their own long-lost pet.
It's pretty common, my uncle saved a pup with no chip down by the river and put up posters everywhere. They had plenty of people try and claim it was theirs even when they clearly knew nothing about the Jack Russell pup. Needless to say the good boyo is living with my cousin now and is very well loved.
