Christopher Paul Hasson called for “focused violence” to “establish a white homeland” and dreamed of ways to “kill almost every last person on earth,” according to court records filed in U.S. District Court in Maryland. Hasson, 49, of Silver Spring, is expected to appear before a judge for a detention hearing in federal court in Greenbelt at 1 p.m. Thursday. Officials with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Maryland outlined Hasson’s alleged plans to spark chaos and destruction in court documents, describing a man obsessed with neo-fascist and neo-Nazi views. Court documents do not detail what prompted federal law enforcement to begin investigating Hasson, but contend Hasson has been studying the 1,500-page manifesto of right-wing terrorist Anders Behring Breivik, who unleashed two attacks in 2011 that killed 77 in Norway and echo Breivik’s attack preparations.
I'm not even sure if it's safe to put a creature like this in a prison. imprisonment in his house under constant guard is safer lest he radicalize somebody else
did he dream of a homeland of one or something
Probably just him and his closest female family members so they can keep their bloodline "pure".
Oh hey its my home state. Thankfully he was caught before hand.
SAPI plates and plate carriers for two people? Hiking mainpacks? 49 years old?? what the fuck is happening in this guy's mind
You see Ivan, if carry enough rifles, you will never be shot because the bullet blocked by suit of guns
Good on 'em for catching and arresting the guy before he did something stupid. Whaddayawanna bet they just give him a slap on the wrist, ignore his obvious mental health issues, and kick him back out to society in 5-10 years? Exile him to Mars, with all the life support we can offer. Force him to do some good for humanity and keep him well away from humanity. Only way the human race can win with this guy.
Remember, he's white, so he's a "lone wolf."
I'm so glad they caught this guy before he was able to cause real harm. I also hope he gets the book thrown at him, and any co-conspirators get the same.
“Please send me your violence that I may unleash it onto their heads,” Hasson wrote in a letter that prosecutors said was found in his email drafts. “Guide my hate to make a lasting impression on this world.” Yikes
dehumanizing people like this rather than acknowledging the fact that this person can be literally anyone is part of the problem
Nah. The problem is a total lack of any semblance of mental healthcare in the US coupled with the toxic, cancerous fuckhole that is social media and sprinkled with a fair bit of just plain lunacy. Dehumanizing people that do these sorts of things doesn't cause other people to do them. These people will still commit their atrocities regardless of what language we use to describe them.
but most terror attacks are from brown mexicans! This is a false flag set up by the leftist demolibtards on behalf of the ILLEGAL MEXICANS! Republicans are the superior race!
there's likely a causal relationship between considering mentally ill people to be "creatures" and poor mental healthcare support
I don't see the link. We're not referring to all mentally ill people, we're only referring to people who do things like blow up office complexes with ANFO-laden Ryder trucks, or shoot up schools, or whatever. I also don't see how calling these sorts of detestable fucks who commit atrocities anything but what they are is going to help. They're not gonna suddenly go 'Oh well I guess I won't shoot up that school' because society uses a less harsh term for them.
this is true in a different context but lets take a moment to draw a line and say that not all "lone wolf" terrorist attacks are due to the mental instability. some people are legitimately just that violent due to some perceived injustice. to believe in these falsehoods doesnt require insanity, it can also (and more often) come from being misled or lied to by political actors working in bad faith. to put this another way, if you were constantly lied to that there are individuals all around us ready to destroy our way of life at any moment, i can gaurantee as long as you believed it you'd probably enter some fight or flight response. some choose fight in situations like that. it doesn't take being insane to believe such lies, it takes the right mindset and the right ideology. to destroy american terrorism you need to stop the rhetoric that causes it. to imply its only the work of "lunatics" and the unhinged is playing into the hands of those who use this rhetoric. it strengthens the veil that their words manifest into nothing. that nobody could be responsible for the actions of violent terrorists in america -- it was all a freak accident, a lunatic who got spooked. this gives a buffer to keep people from questioning why these political actors do what they do.
I think mental health is an important angle but I also think when it comes to incidents like this it's a giant red herring used to distract from the fact that the GOP have a direct hand in the creation of domestic terrorists via their massive propaganda machine. Sinclair broadcasting reaches something like 70% of American homes and pushes a wide variety of right to far right talking points and that's not even scratching the surface of how much money the Right has sunk into communications I think it's significant that when it's a brown person, the conversation is about extremists and radicalization, but every damn time time it's a white boy, and especially when that white boy does it in the US, suddenly the questions of where he went to church, who he associated with, what his social media presence was like, things like the how, when, who, and why he might have been radicalized goes away, and we're talking about how we possibly could have helped this poor deranged human get access to the care they so clearly needed Which is increasingly feeling like chaff to me, because I think there's a very important question getting glossed over every time something like this happens, and it happens with some genuinely alarming regularity Someone is radicalizing US citizens White supremacists aren't created in a vacuum. That's the kind of ideology someone has to teach you. That's the kind of belief you have to put some work into holding. You have to move in some pretty specific circles. You have to read some pretty specific shit. You don't just decide on a whim that you want to create a white ethnostate because white genocide is happening right now and it's a matter of survival. These ideas come from somewhere and a pretty fucking decent place to start looking is the GOP. The rightists. The party of actual white supremacists and neonazis. The party of Joe Arpaio. The party of concentration camps at the border. The party of Mexicans are literally bloodthirsty rape monsters coming for your white women jobs. The party of 'Confederate monuments are definitely about heritage and not racist icons built multiple decades after everyone who fought in the war was dead by people with a vested interest in shaping the written history of the South to make slavery look Not That Bad'
I don't think it's possible to dehumanize one who has already abandoned their humanity. Let him have his rights as dictated by the law - but let's not pretend that someone like him is just the same as anyone else. Violent sociopaths are few and far between, and are clearly lacking something fundamental to normal human beings.
I fully agree. If we are going to go after the source cause of other types of extremism and even put the community these so called extremist reside in it should only be fair that the same is applied to right-wing extremism. I know we eyes on a lot of homegrown terrorism, but there needs to be some accountability as to these "lonewolf" types and where they got their ideals from. It is from what is considered mainstream media and it is pretty fucking scary.
Have you heard of the Stanley Milgram experiments? People are more malleable and weak than you think.
A single person can carry a lot of weapons given enough time to get them all on their body. The effectiveness of having all of those weapons diminishes after a point though because it becomes increasingly harder to move.
Every fucking time, I'm not reposting my dehumanization rant at you for a third time because you know exactly what it said the first two times I directly posted it at you. Dehumanization is incredibly dangerous and threatens to destroy what little fragile peace remains in the troubled union of these United States and the world in general.
Beyond a public display of righteous indignation to make yourself feel better, I don't know why you bother, considering that I've already explained myself once before. My personal morals assign a value to individuals based on the way they would treat others. The 'victim of circumstance' argument only goes so far, and I'm not willing to let it stretch to homicidal/genocidal maniacs. We'll simply have to agree to disagree. I pride myself at least on not judging individuals by hereditary traits but rather by their words and deeds - and as long as I'm willing to accept the rule of law, that's well within my rights.
Dude the problem is that you don't have the right to determine when someone else's actions "void their humanity". You can say "wElL thEY shOULd KNOW thaT DoiNG tHIS SHiT wIlL LeaD tO That" but there is no legal document that outlines which actions "forfeit humanity" because it's not fucking possible, ever, at all.
Give it a couple days, I'm sure that'll be the story Breitbart runs with by the end of the week.
I wonder what TD's flawless take on this is. Don't see any posts there yet.
That's probably their take. This is fake news, doesn't exist, delete and ban all threads about it from liberal shills. Have to keep the echo chamber pure and intact.
My guess? Deep State Fake News Fake News ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE = MEDIA Fake News Liberal Fake News False Flag Liberals shot up a Congressman at a baseball game Antifa Yes, I put Fake News 4 times, you really expect them to think this is real? They are that crazy.
Dehumanization is the height of delusional thinking. You and everyone you know are capable of doing bad things. Doesn't matter if it's on the level of this guy, but there's no such thing as a perfectly good person.
