• !HELP! Model has two Displacement Maps

I'm back after 10 years since this forum has been very helpful to me in the past. I'm extracting what looks to be displacement maps from AVP but the issue is that the models have one in RGB and another in the alpha channel. I'm not sure how to utilize both of them or why there's two. Maybe someone can help? Those aren't displacements. That's a normalmap split into two parts. Combined and normalized they make this. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/107180/f59c1972-ed0e-4d50-a956-fc380bd7d515/6.jpg
A normal map split into parts? Why would the game split the normal map? So the solution is just to combine them and use them as a normal map then? How is the game utilizing tesselation if they don't have displacement maps?
Yes. To get around some quirks with texture compression. Yes. Easy. The game uses neither of those.
