And Youtube will fuck content creators even more in return
Let it all burn, fuck it
Money is the only thing they care about. They wouldn't have done shit if it wasn't for losing advertisers.
a classic case of proving you can get away with whatever disgusting shit you want until it affects someone else's bottom line
YouTube needs to be replaced. I know they are going to make another AI that does fuck all to solve the issue, but fucks everyone else.
The deep incompetence that Youtube has shown is utterly astounding, but this boycott has been simmering for at least two years since the problem of creepy low-key pedophile videos was brought up. It's incredible how Youtube can build AI algorithms that can scan a video for copyrighted music or for swear words for the purpose of disabling advertising dollars, yet when it comes to actually protecting the community and say stopping child exploitation, they can absolutely find matching videos of little girls for creepy pedophiles, but their method of removal seems to be for the algorithm to just find videos with CP in the title and ban those channels. Granted 8 year old girls don't buy advertising on Youtube so why would Google care about them?
While somewhat unrelated, I recently reported a video on facebook showing a fully nude south east asian toddler dancing on a table, and reported it for child nudity. Guess what happened? It told me that its within the guidelines. WHAT THE FUCK IS WITH THE POLICING OF CONTENT IN ALL THESE TECH COMPANIES??!! Honestly I should head down to facebook office and confront them on this issue.
YouTube Doesn't need to be replaced, we need multiple sites competing with eachother. It is absolute hell that our main forms of communication are being locked behind corporation in such a way that it gives them complete monopoly. Not even Television stations had this kind of power.
The only problem is when you have such a monopoly, a very convenient one at that, it's incredibly difficult for new, good competition to kick in. At the end of the day, content creators are trying to make money with their videos. Moving to another platform simply won't do that for them. Plus new websites won't have nearly the amount of robust features that Youtube has had 10+ years to refine. Same case goes for Twitch. You really think people are just going to switch to Mixer when it doesn't have nearly the same amount of viewership as Twitch? Tho I will say I actually quite like Mixer and think it's a great platform, but again, at the end of the day, content creators will go where the most money is at.

I'd make the argument that at this point; we need to approach social media differently, because right now we're operating like all these websites are channels on a television when in reality their closer to the cable provider with channels on themselves. I don't have an answer but something has to give, we're allowing corporations and non-competitive monopoly over the public square.
Adpocalypse 2.0 here we go!
Christ, I'm watching youtubers digging into the guy's past to instead discredit his character instead of the argument in question. I get that he was some shit tier asshole but the fact of the matter is that this has been and will continue to be a problem and the only time Youtube ever fixes this shit is when they get pressured to do it. Just look at how long it took to fix the Five Fingers/Creepy Toy Channels. Youtubers were harping on that for a full on year, and it was happening for at least a year previous.
The problem is services like this will naturally build toward a singular entity because not many people want to go check 4 or 5 different video services to see what there is to watch, or search 4 or 5 services to find what they're looking for.
so I guess amazon doesnt exist?
Pornhub is already having issues over paying studios and models and contract disputes so good luck with that. Greed corrupts unilaterally.
they already made a response that basically says the youtube content creators will be held responsible for their comments section. YouTube is ‘aggressively approaching’ solution to child exploita.. YouTube says it may also ask creators to more rigorously moderate their comments. The memo also states that while the company carries the burden for the comments appearing on the site in the first place, “we can hold monetizing channel owners to a higher standard.”
That is so fucking retarded. Yeah the easy way would be to just disable comments but as much of a shit Youtube comments are, a lot of creators do use the feedback from comments and can't really afford to disable them. But hey, I totally called it on the related video's thread, another Adpocalypse and Youtube going full retard against creators again to protect it's ad money.
And how exactly is youtube going to even enforce this if they are already taking the approach of pushing the burden on content creators? If youtube can enforce this on content creators then why the fuck wouldn't they just moderate the comments themselves to begin with?
Except that's not difficult and is laughably easier than having to surf channels on a television. And it would arguably create better content. The fact of that matter is that we need to create anti-trust laws to prevent the kind of control Facebook/Youtube/Twitter/Reddit has.

There's like 50 reasons why that's the worst fucking solution they could have possibly come up with, holy fucking shit. Youtube, just fucking die already.
People are totally not going to use this to sabotage the monetization of channels they don't like.
Thank god that on top of wanting to put my animation profile on YouTube while making a bit of cash, I still haven't quit my day job. I have less chance of losing my paycheck with than than working part-time animation and part time video moderator so I don't lose my check.
Time to hit up rewind
