The article says that they just feel they are paying back their gratitude for the UK having rescued them initially, but with a number like 115'000 rescued, all the while being targeted by Syria's government, these guys are goddamn heroes in my book. Im glad theyre getting help finding work in the UK, but in a perfect world these guys deserve to not have to work another day in their lives.
White-helmets aren't remotely clean. Being a pretty impartial person towards the SCW, I've seen a lot of good and bad written about the White Helmets. More often they were accused of rebel publicity stunts half the time with them assisting the Jihadist organizations in moving supplies and even fighting. Was it consistent? Probably not, but I don't trust this organization at all.
Isn't there a huge issue with Russian propaganda or other far-right propaganda trying to paint the White Helmets as like extremists?
A quick google search reveals that yes that is the case. The motivation is pretty simple since killing humanitarian workers is bad for the PR war. The west was also pretty serious about getting the good ones out, considering the extensive intel network I assume they would have done their homework to check that they are clean. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/syrian-rescue-organization-the-white-helmets-are-terrorists/ https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/snopes/
