In July of 2018 a viewer sent me out a bag full of brass shavings after
he watched my aluminum shaving bowl video. I thought it would be really
fun to try this combo as a table top.
I also got a chance to give
my welder another workout. I have to save, between the largest resin
pour I've ever done and my first crack at wielding a table leg, I am
very happy with how this all turned out.
Since the pigment I
used is slightly transparent you really get a cool depth to this
project. I sort of get lost staring at the patterns.
Does anyone actually like these? Theres something unclean and garbage-like about metal shavings used this way, like hair in gum.
They'd be much better recycled into a brass melt.
I agree, cool process, but very underwhelming final result...
I guess if the resin was clear it could look pretty neat , maybe not with metal shavings but something like marbles maybe ?
That reminds me of those bus seats specifically designed to have colorful/messy designs so its impossible to see if they're dirty or not
