I'm not sure if there's any section appropriate for this.
She sounds like a loon lol.
Considering her literal spirit animal was Steve Jobs, a fitting end.
Something about the way this article is written makes it easy to imagine these events as the premise of an eerie horror story.
holy shit she fooled some high profile people, I've never heard of this and its nuts.
I have literally never heard of this, so I don't think this whole thing is quite as high profile as the author thinks. Still a really good read, some of the shit that goes on in silicon valley is absolutely mad.
This story has been big, big news for two years. It is a high profile piece, just because you didn't know about it before isn't evidence of the contrary? I've been following this story for close to two years, their blood technology was such a high profile "revolution" for the medical industry that it was pretty widely spread by the media. It just turns out it was all bullshit.
I literally have never seen anything about it in the news over here, or even noticed anything about it being posted on facepunch before this point. Now I don't check here religiously, so I might have missed it, but I find that between SH and PD Facepunch actually functions as a very good news aggregator for international news.
There have been four threads on the topic in the last year and probably more that went with Oldpunch. Your personal opinon means nothing, this has been headline news in the business for two years.
I'm sorely disappointed that there weren't any pictures of Balto.
have you considered the alternative explanation that you simply don't read enough
this is a you problem: Medical Technology Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes charged wit.. Theranos is shutting down for good
I actually searched those threads after being told about them, and yep, they exist, but I don't reckon they stayed up on the first page for long being they are all one page wonders that averaged 6 replies between them. So yes, it is my fault in that I missed threads that had very little traffic. However, to me "High profile" as the author of this article used would suggest that it was front page news. However, Download added a stipulation that explains to me why I missed it - Is not the same as high profile or headline without stipulation. And explains to me why I haven't seen it - I don't routinely check business news unless it makes general front page news on news websites or the few actual print newspapers that I actually read these days.
Mate, facepunch is not a good indicator of world news.
As a news aggregator it is actually pretty good, the international user base means that you get a broader range of news being posted than might end up on places like the BBC etc as people post news from their local areas now and then. But I explicitly said I check other places for news too.
There's a lot of news posted here, yes, but I've long long stopped relying on FP for my news. There's far too much stuff out there that because of FP's demographics, not many people are interested in a variety of the stories out there, and thus they don't get posted here.
There were days when I would go on youtube and have nothing but a line of Theranos-related videos in my news section. Yeah, Id say it was pretty big.
