It has to be Sanders, Warren is damaged goods after all the Pocahontas shit.
I like Warren and she's my second choice but Bernie is definitely the stronger candidate. But more importantly we need to be mindful of attempts by the media to divide the left. You can already see it in the framing of this article where they bring up Bernie's 2016 campaign as being "too white and too male." They're going to try and gaslight us with identity. Don't fall for it.
That doesn't even make sense. The Pocahontas memes aren't going to dissuade left leaning voters from Warren, it's just more childish bullying from Trump and his ilk.
That’s the GOP Gaslight Machine spinning the news as usual. Don’t fall for it.

They can't pull that shit this time around.
I know, but they'll try. Just watch. "Bernie shouldn't be president because we should shy away from old white men," is going to be one of the main lines of attack of against him.
Are democratic primaries first-past-the-post? If so, that may turn in Warren/Bernie's advantage considering there's a shitload of status quo candidates already. They need to not split the vote between themselves though.
It's proportional. Each state has a certain number of delegates, and they are divvied up based on the percentage of the vote a candidate gets. At the end of the primaries they tally them up and whoever has the most delegates is nominated.
Don't forget the caucuses, like Iowa which goes first and the bizarre ritual in which nominees are chosen.
So it's still first-past-the-post, then. As in, if the most popular candidate gets 40% he is chosen despite not having an absolute majority.
So vote splitting can still occur, in this case.
I'm curious to see why people would prefer Harris or Warren over Sanders. To me, he is the all-encompassing politician that those two model themselves after. In that view, voting for either of them is just opting for "Sanders Lite".
I want to know what's going in with that little guy in the hatch in the background, is he a cuckoo clock?
Not quite because not all states have their primary/caucus at the same time.
Iowa tends to send people to stardom but not always to the final win.
For example in 2008, John McCain wasn't even in the top 3 of Iowa yet he later became the nominee.
My example was meant nationally, after every state voted, you can have a situation where no candidate has an absolute majority of delegates and have a winner regardless.
Not a very democratic method, since a candidate can be nominated despite being disliked by a majority of voters. It also leads to votes being split between similar candidates, severely hurting their chances even if their platform is preferred by an absolute majority.
So in this case, if too many establishment Dems run (which seems to be the case?), they lose. It's probably for the best IMO, but it's still a pretty antidemocratic consequence.
They already tried it when he was on MSNBC the other night, and he handled it like a champ imo. They kept trying to bring up the sexual harassment and white people thing, and Sanders took it like a
champ, accepting responsibility and said he's making sure whatever happened doesn't happen again. He's really good right now at deflecting the media away from smearing him.
The pocahontas shit that's a giant smear by the republicans and the president?
Axel wouldn't know, but I'm surprised you don't remember Scorps.
Several states have combined into a 'Popular Vote' coalition. I forget the states in question but after the 2016 election, they're primary laws have changed so that the person who wins the popular vote gets all of their delegates.
That's the fucking point. Remember how much Trump pushed Hilary's emails ("LOCK HER UP, LOCK HER UP")? That's going to happen again with this pocahontas shit if we don't get our shit together and put forward a damn near infallible candidate like Bernie.
As if that won't happen with Sanders.
sounds very short-sighted to just fucking give up on warren like that because of trump criticism
also spineless
Honestly I believe the democratic party hardliners are going to kneecap the party at large by throwing all their weight behind a candidate whose main contraction is being a woman or a minority, mixing the two would be what they consider a "homerun" choice. The democratic party at large seems to have gone so far left they've ended up on the right.
"A woman needs to be President, and a minority woman has a surefire chance of winning! There's no way we can put our support behind an old white jew, KAMALA HARRIS 2020!"
There's nothing wrong with diversity, but I do think there's something wrong with making diversity the single most important part of your political campaign. I'm not voting for somebody based on their melanin levels or whether or not they have ovaries or testicles, I'm voting based on track record and current policy to make my decisions. It's really a bummer that Bernie is the only guy who has been as consistent as he is on his policies and beliefs. It's like the time everyone forgot Hillary was against gay marriage until it became a political talking point to advance her career.
That's for the general election though?
Lets just hope the leadership is interested in a fair primary this time around. Not like what they did last time by closing polling stations and doing what ever they could to push Hillary over Bernie.
Shit, you're right. I'm a fucking doofus.
It's almost like I have made an informed decision based on more than one thing, it's just that one thing adds to it.
I'm not confident in Warren's commitment considering she's failed to support progressive policies before, and I'm not sure she's strong and charismatic enough to win. Neither of those are what I want in a candidate. There's much better candidates out there like Bernie or Harris. The fact there's and avenue of attack open on her that Trump has used and exploited with Hillary Clinton nails the coffin for me
Bernie Sanders just happens to have what I want in a candidate including an incredibly clean record.
"hurmph well how can he connect with the average voter when he doesn't have any white people on there??!? is he trying to meet some diversity quota? overcompensating old creep!"
Seriously, people will try and spin shit. Even if it's blatantly incorrect.
