Greetings all,
TL;DR version - Three servers for newbs, RPs, and large-scale combat. Yea or Nay?
Only on my fourth wipe but over 1,000 hours. That is where I am coming from here. Learning fast, but still ignorant of what is
out there in many ways. Been a map and scenario maker in other games, and really like it here. Want to share a few ideas and see if they already exist out there in the swarm of servers I have not seen yet.
Server 1 - The Newlands
Indestructible TCs, and other tweaks to allow a break for new players from day-trippers, snowballers and griefers. Large admin and "staff" presence for teaching basic game mechanics and initial base design, etc. Semi-formal scheduled "classes" or
"sessions" for groups. Give people a chance to get to like the game.
Server 2 - The Territories
Very large, custom map. "Workaround Wipeless"(two files saved, altered and transferred every month). Facepunch only controls BPs. ALL else stays. Groups hold areas that would be described by natural features/boundaries("Territories").
Role Play Nirvana. A "lawless/cursed earth" zone, but all other areas are under someone's domain. Very low upkeep, very long
decay. Authorized groups get Chinooks and other bonuses. At least one admin resides in each Territory for inspection and banning duty.
Server 3 - Combat Zone
From Monday through Thursday this would be a closed, Invitation-only builder's server. They would build the targets for the
weekend's festivities. Friday through Sunday is Total War. Pre-organized teams gather from their respective servers to duke it out with Admin-supplied resources. Blue vs Red in Rust. Player-driven Chinooks, APCs and sedans added to mini-copters and balloons and boats. No hard feelings because no one had to grind for any of it. Teamwork and tactics and incredible times of pewpew and boomboom. Winning teams get to pick options like location and equipment for the next week's fight.
I find it hard to fathom that these do not already exist in some form. Please point me the way if so. If not... who is up for it?
Thank you for your attention, and may your rounds never fall short.
